I was there in Feb 2008 for the All-Star show there. They had gotten a lot of rain the night before, so for the first night, the track was very heavy and fast. The second night was a lot better. The track dried out a bit but not bad and the racing was much better. The track does have a lot of sand in it, but it wasnt that bad. Some people call it a sh*t hole but I have seen FAR MORE worse than Ocala. Just my opinion. Turns 1 and 2 are pretty normal sweeping turns but as soon as you get out of turn 2, the backstretch goes at an angle as if you were heading toward the middle of 3 and 4 on most tracks. Then turns 3 and 4 is VERY sharp. I think it is going to make for a really interesting race as both turns are so different. I guess we will see!

It may be a shiz hole of a track but at least they are willing to give this event a go, more than I can say for that money grubbin Eastbay. Oh, and Superduke, does it at least have more dirt on it than that track you promoted in Missouri a few years back?

1st of I would like to thank Mike Peters and his wife for bring the "BEST KIND OF RACING PERIOD" back to Florida. I have raced Ocala since the early 70's and have seen the different track surfaces. From clay to gumbo to pavement to to the surface now that is a gumbo, limerock, sandy mix. The one thing that has been constant is the track layout, as sprinthead pointed out it's turns 1 and two are sweeping and 3-4 are tight. T-Mac said it best a few years back after the allstar race, "this'll be a hell'va joint to have a non wing show at". The "crutched styled" Top Gun Series has had some good shows they and the AllStar show was not to bad last year. Ocala has the BEST DAMN LIGHTING system then ANY track in the state, and prehaps the best seating area as well being it is stadium seating. But best of all MIKE PETERS and OCALA SPEEDWAY are bring NON WINGED SPRINT CARS TO FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again Mike!!

I was hoping so too. For a first time event held during the middle of the week on one pretty darn cold night, I thought the crowds were pretty good. Guess they just don't like our kind down there. See ya at Toledo.

I don't think it is that, it's about the all mighty dollar...As you can see NO 410's this year...only 360's with less money to pay out...They only pay 400 to win and 50 to start with their reg Limited sprints..Yea yea I know they are limited by motor only and the tracks ALL over the nation want to pay less because of the name even though they are 360 limiteds the chassis are the same as WoO/Allstars, cost the same for fuel and the ticket to get in...oh well I'm rambling, just so glad to see NON Wing back to Florida for the 2nd time in 25 years...Booked my motel today..Super 8 for $48.00 a night
