I remember those days. Indy was covered for two hours every day and you really got the chance to know who was there. Now they only show the qualifying days and only hit the "stars" and no one else. Indy lost it's exposure while NASCAR gained it all. At least you can get on indycar.com at work and watch live timing and scoring from Indy in May on practice days. Yes it is worth getting in trouble for improper use of the internet at work but it sure beat the heck out of looking at the sites the rest of them look at.

The thing about all of this talk about transition from front to rear engine cars is that, Parnelli, AJ, Ward, Marshman, Rutherford, Sneva, Johncock etc. had absolutely no problem adapting to them. Rick Mears and Robby Gordon came over from off rode very successfully. Tony
Stewart and Billy Boat seemed to adapt pretty well also. These sprint/midget guys can do it. They'll just never get a chance with the way the sport is structured today. It s^cks!!!!!!! It's all about opportunity, not where the engine is located in the race car. Penske and Ganassi should be operating development programs to get our guys into the Indy cars. They're killing their own sport by putting the young American talent in their Cabs and hiring foreigners for the OW cars.

Agreed. Unfortunately, the open wheel seats are being filled with drivers bringing money to run the series. That is the state of the open wheel ranks today.

your right for the most part, mudpacker, but not Penske and Ganassi. They have the funding to hire and develop American short track talent and they won't. They stick'em in the cabs and hire the foreigners. Hell, Penske even took Hornish away from the Indy cars! It's almost like they're "trying" to kill the sport.
