Speaking of back at the track, we were with the Arctic Cat team when Dave had this awful crash! Check out the black eyes... took a heck of a ride that night! Just wanted to share a couple of photos since the topic was brought up. :icon_smile_blackeye

I definitely remember that night. I was standing next to Davey Jones when Bud was qualifying. Halfway through his first lap Davey says that Bud thinks he can drive the car like he has a wing on it. After he completes his first lap Davey's all happy and cheering but when Bud dumped it on the second lap he said a few choice words as he was running out to check on Bud!

Also in the feature I was directly behind Brandon Petty when his steering went out. We entered turn one and as we got through the middle of the corner Brandon kept going straight and drove straight over the wall and landed on his wheels on the other side. It kinda through me off for a second when he all of a sudden took a different groove through the turn! :emote20:

I can attest that Terre Haute will bust your butt quicker then you can blink. My end over end in 2003 affected my eyes for quite a while and it was no where near the wreck that Dave and Bud took.

Two things I will always remember about that night though is when they got me in the ambulance the back door opens and Davey Jones was standing there making sure I was okay. Great guy that I don't get to see often enough anymore. Second thing is my step-brother sitting in the infield and jumping the fence to make sure I was okay also! hehe

I flipped over the third turn wall at Terre Haute....but it was because I lost my footing.....and I think it may have been alcohol related.....and I don't think anyone has video of it. The next day my head hurt and my eyes were red. Not Dave Darland red....but red.

:rolling:...The famed Langhorne Speedway used to have a bar right out on Rte. 1 in front of the track. It was a convenient place to "fuel up" for the Saturday night shopping cart races next door. :emote20:In 1969, while on my annual pilgramage to the modified-sportsman National Open, I woke up on Sunday morning on the roof of the place! I don't know how I got there, I don't want to know how I got there but I didn't get arrested and I didn't miss the race so it wasn't too bad.:rolling:

:rolling: Man, that's too funny. It's a wonder some of us have made it this far in life. lol. We need to start a thread about alcohol related racing weekend "incidents". :respect:

Maybe the roof was the safest place to be! I would have liked to see that Dwight! :applaud:
