The 2010 season is already gathering momentum and we are looking forward to a great upcoming year. Myself and J.T. Stapp have been working hard on getting the schedule put together and we will be posting the dates as we get them. Along with the schedule I have some big announcements to make regarding sponsors and rule changes that I feel will have a positive impact on the direction of the series for 2010 season. Below is a list of what we have so far.
1.) The series is excited to introduce to everyone our new name. From here on out we will be known as the American Sprint Car Tour or (ASCT). Our logo will include the phrase "Tough As Steel" because we will be a (steel block) only sprint car series.
2.) We are proud to announce that The American Racer Tire Company has agreed to be the exclusive right rear tire for the American Sprint Car Tour. The right rear tires will be stamped with our letters (ASCT) to show certification. American Racer will be giving away a set of 4 brand new tires each month in a drawing during the season. To be eligible you must register on their website and send a picture of you in victory lane on all 4 American Racer tires. Two people won from Indiana in 2009! With the price structure our racers will save approximately $30 dollars or more per tire with a portion of the cost going to the (ASCT) points fund for the 2010 season.
3.) Our web site will be maintained by GOFOBROKE Web Services and should be up and running in a few days and I will pass that address along to you as soon as it’s ready.
4.) Scott Leeman Designs has signed up to be the official photographer of the American Sprint Car Tour.
5.) We are extremely pleased to announce that at every race we will have are own safety and emergency crew to work hand in hand with the race tracks' crew. We are proud to introduce Joe Stewart to our group. Joe is now the new series Competition Safety Director. Joe will have a minimum of himself and two others at each one ofour venue all season long and all of the American Sprint Car Tour’s safety crew are certified EMTS.They are also trained and certified fire control and are also certified in driver extrications. They will be fully equipped and we are thrilled to have them with us.

This is what has transpired in the last several days so there will be a lot more info to come. All drivers and car owners are welcome to contact me through this site until our web site is up and running.
Thank you. John Gurley

Mr. Gurley,

Can you share the size of the spec American Racer RR Tire, especially the circumference and recommended wheel width?

Thanks

Glad to see the cheaper AR tires are being used somewhere! My track (KC Raceway in Ohio) just went to Goodyear RR & LR next year, which I believe are going to be the same price as the Hoosier SC tires that we mostly ran. I was starting to run more of the AR's because of the price difference though. I easily won a 25 lap race last year on a very fast & sticky Ohio Valley Speedway (Parkersburg, WV) with a new MC-1 for the feature (**** still on it afterwords). Saved that tire and came back the next race there a month later and put it on and would have won again except lost the brakes and jumped cushion a few times and got passed on 23rd lap. Tire still looked good. MC-2's used to work good @ KC when we had to run them a few years ago and would have ran them again. With Goodyear taking over, what does AR do- sue Goodyear too? They're in a tough spot for sure.

The tire is an MC3. The only difference is our logo will be stamped on the tire for the purpose of our points fund. As for size specs I'll have to get back to you.

I'll never get a chance to race with you guys, but thank you for taking the safety aspect seriously and having a safety team that travels with you to all the races.

I am so excited that I could announce that we have our own safty crew traveling with us for the 2010 season. This means alot to me and the series to have this kind of credibility when comes to our commitment for driver and crew safty. All you have to do is look at the L'burge safty crew. They are bar none the best in the bizz and I as a racer love knowing that they are on site and that we are all in good hands if God forbid something would happen.

Mr. Gurley,

No need for you to get back on the specs. Tony Rose with American Racer filled me in.

Thanks
