We have been down this road before .I don't have alot of confidence in USAC either.

Not trying to feed or start any rumors, because I wanna race all three nights... But with 60% to 70% chance of rain thursday, and 50% to 60% on friday, I could see from a promoters side, having a hard time paying such a big purse for a single night event on saturday. Two rainouts would cost them ALOT of pit pass, grandstand admission, and concession money. I hope if it were to rain both nights we could still run saturday but could see reasons it doesnt happen.

It's not looking good at all for this weekend. It's been a horrible year for rainouts.

90% and 70% chance of rain, lows in the 30s. HUGE purse to pay. What would you do if it was your money?

With the forecast for Sunday being worse (rain/snow forecasted as far south as Springfield, IL) I would tend to fall on the side of calling the event and trying to book it earlier in the year. It's a great event, just bad timing and it's nothng against anyoen if this is indeed the only time of the year that everythng can be worked out to fit it on the schedule.

I love how everything is always USAC’s fault. Even rain is their fault it appears. I don’t understand why some of you even bother to go if everything they do is so bad. They aren’t perfect and make mistakes…no doubt. I’ve gone home from a show pissed off at something they did, but I get over it and move on.

Just remember, as a fan (just talking fans…not drivers and owners) your investment is minimal in comparison to what it costs to put on a show….especially one this size. I’ve been to over 60 races this year so I have spent plenty of my disposable income on racing. That still doesn’t even come remotely close to what it would cost to put on a show of this size. I love all the professional promoters on this board. I have no idea what it takes to put on a show so how can I complain? All fans have to do is show up; events don’t just show up too. There is a lot of money invested in getting it organized and for the payout. What if your money was on the line?

I've been looking forward to this week since they announced last year that they were going to hold it again. I was loaded up and ready to be there by noon today. I was also keeping close watch on weather and the forecast kept getting worse and worse, so I was not surprised when they called today's practice off. Right now, the forecast is for 40% chance of showers tonight, 90% chance tomorrow with one inch expected and locally heavier, 70% chance for Friday (I assume this is a continuation of Thursday night) with low of 38 Friday night. Sunny Saturday with low of 35. If they race, I go. However, I agree with the comments about the economic viability of the whole show at this time. We can't expect promoters to carry on with a show which is guaranteed to lose them big money. Much as I still look forward to seeing races sometime this week, I will certainly not blame the Gundakers if they cancel. They are good people and I trust them to do the right thing.

Really hope to see many of you at the "Gold Crown Midget Nationals" later this week. I might add that I am a little jealous of Brucer', who is geographically blessed.

We have recieved over 5" of rain in the last 24 hours! There is 2' of water in the infield. The only ones racing are the 50 geese around the scoring tower.

Thanks, Kevin
