You captured it perfectly, Matt. I'm glad everybody made it out of this scary crash. Josh and Ryan are especially lucky. Note Bryan Clauson's quick reaction, in escaping this situation.

Ran into a couple of Faas' guys very early this morning at the Kokomo IHOP and they ended up taking Nic to the hospital because he was coughing up some blood. They seemed to think he was doing alright, all things considered.

Nailed it Jerry!
That was some great reactions by Clauson!

nic did what he had to do...he got a perfect start and passed a few cars. i looked like he saw the hole, kaplan went for the bottom not knowing that nic had that much momentum, nic didn't give in and the both ended up in the same spot on the track. i feel really bad for all drivers involved. i'm a friend of nic's from the west coast and really thought he had a great chance to win the main last night after qualifying seventh. i hope you feel better buddy and can make the rest of the isw shows.

great heads up by spencer not to nail kaplan in the cage...could have been a whole lot worse for kaplan.

Your kidding right....Nic did what he had to it was the 1st turn of lap 1... I havent seen a driver yet win a race on the 1st lap..I know both drivers well and that was a bone head move by Nic...

I normally would stay out of these arguments, but somebody needs to stand up for Faas here. If you are coming from the fourth row of a sprint week heat and you aren't flat out from the drop of the green you will not transfer. If you think for a second Nic thought it would end that way your crazy. This kid has driven his tail off all summer without touching a car. Not only does Nic work on his own cars he has to budget the money to race them (he is not a rich kid by any means), of course he didn't want to tear up a car and chance hurting himself or anyone else. It was a racing accident heading in to turn 1. Nic was at fault no question, but to think he is out of control or driving over his head is ridiculious. If something like this has never happend to a driver, he isn't trying hard enough. Instead of bashing lets be greatful that both these young drivers are going to be ok and we can enjoy their racing talents again soon.

People like you are the reason these punk kids think they can drive like that and get away with it. I wish you people would quit "sticking up" for the ones that don't deserve it and applaud the drivers who do things the right way. Looking at that video it is obvious who was at fault. Quit sticking up for these kids and start applauding the guys who work and earn their way.

So just because you are a "kid" means you shouldn't be driving a car? I see these arguments all the time about these young men and most of them do not deserve it!

I will start by saying this, I am sure every driver has made a bone head mistake regardless of their age. I seen DD take himself and another driver last year at TSS trying to transfer from the B Main when they both both were in transfer spots. He was clearly driving very aggressively and it could have been a lot worse than it was. I am guessing this is OK because he is DD and he is not 16 years old??

I am pretty confident that no driver intentionally wrecks a $50,000-$60,000 piece of equipment. It was a racing accident and there will be more to come.

To classify "kids" is very disrespectful to every young driver and a lot of these work just as hard if not harder to get where they are at!!
