The race is indeed $1,000 to win. You must be a UMRA member in good standing.
What does that mean..???...Your not taking any new memberships this weekend..??

So someone else that doesn't run regularly with the UMRA won't get the $1,000...???....I thought Bloomington was putting up the $1,000?

UMRA will be accepting new memberships at the Bloomington race, just as they would at any other race. The requirements for membership are outlined in the UMRA rule book which you can access at www.umra.com

Any other questions you may have can be directed to the club president whose contact information is also on the website.

The addtional purse is not being provided by Bloomington Speedway. Woods Electric has been generous enough to come on board as a sponsor of the race. Thank you to Woods Electric for their support of the UMRA.

Just my opninion, but that doesnt seem like a very good way to get a higher car count. Here is a thought, how about, since the MTQRL is off for a week, try to attract some of those cars with the higher purse. In the end the UMRA benefits. And hey, impress some of those new cars with the speed and efficiency at which the UMRA runs a program, maybe they will want to come back. Dont advertise a big purse and then have strings attached to it. That type of wishy-washy stuff is , from what I've heard, is the reason for some of these cars going with the new club. This kind of stuff just creates tension between the two groups and is ridiculous. It is my understanding that you dont have to be a member to race, and the prize money is the prize money. If Tony Stewart won the Indy 500 the speedway wouldnt hold back some money and tell him sorry, since you dont run with us every weekend you only get 1/3 of the purse! Come on guys(and girls), I think most of us want unification. In case nobody has noticed, both clubs have a very anemic car count. 19 cars at Rushville??!! 12 cars at N. Vernon??!! Instead of making it unpleasant for people to jump from club to club, impress them with what you have to offer.

FYI...you have to be a member of either group to race with them. This isn't something new or unique to the TQ's. Try signing in tomorrow night at Lawrenceburg to run a USAC Sprint car without a membership.

Sorry to disappoint TQ97 but in USAC you can run 3 races on a temporary permit. You don't need a membership before race 4...

And the temp permit costs how much?

TQ97, FYI, you should know that the UMRA started a program a few years ago that allowed racers that didnt normally run with them to come and run three races without being a member and without buying the insurance. This was mainly aimed to allow guys to come from IL, CA, FL and TN and race for the weekend.

I had forgotten about that, so you're right. However, the spirit of that rule is to lower the costs for guys to come race with UMRA for one weekend. Since UMRA members went out and got the extra purse money from the sponsor, why should they let non members get it?
