When I drove past a couple weeks ago, it looked like the front stretch fence was sagging and ready to fall down. I don't know how effective it would be at keeping a flying sprintcar out of the box seats.

They run crate lates, pure stocks, & mini stocks during fair week, and somebody puts on a few 4 cyl. front wheel drive enduros in the summer. There was talk over the winter of somebody running some stock classes on a semi-regular basis, but that fizzled out pretty quickly.

This track has really degrated over the last few years. The good thing, there is now a new Fairboard President that is working hard to make the place better. They have alread patched up the bleachers. Along with adding boards to the bottom and backside so kids or people can not fall threw. Due to recent storms, alot of the fence has been replaced. When I was there last month, a light pole fell and took part of the fence down. I do not think they have that completely fixed yet. I know they will be fixing the infield in october and other improvments to come. They do not have enough money to fix it all at once, but they did start last year. There is a late model race at the fair. They will be doing a few other events like derbies and autocross this season to raise some money. The place has potential, just needing some funds.

Curious...who's the new fair board president? You'd think I might know that, since I live there and all.

.I had talked to Terry about the July 12 date to add the SCORA steel block sprint cars. But in following it up I was told that the fairboard did not want sprint cars at there track. Sam Stockon

Todd Richie would be the new president. Good chance I will see him this weekend, I will ask him about his thoughts on sprints. They may not want them until the repairs are done.

Would he be any relation to Donnie Richie (Scott County Councilman)?
