I'll agree that Larsen is good, but, he has not yet reached the top, and it goes back further than Foyt, and others, he may well reach the top, or who ever thinks, but in my mind, he's still not there, and may never be, he's close maybe, for now.

We've been watching Kyle for what. 12yrs now. Only few things he's not accomplished that many of them 30-40yr career racers like Foyt that he hasn't gotten.

He's got his base $$ now with Nascar, He's trophy hunting and self accomplishment seeking.

He really has nothing to prove to you. HE's done it. I get the feeling Indy will be boring to him.

How many times he shown up in a car he's never driven at a track he's never been too and sometimes in a class he's never raced in and won? I guarantee it took a few years for Mario and Super tex to reach them goals. Kyles the most natural speed man I've ever seen. As a Hoffman Crew Chief said to me, We put him on Osky and he come by us half throttle, I was furious ""What are you doing", Next thing I know he's lapping up to third.

Accomplishments:

AJ: Indy 500(4), Daytona 500, 24hrs LeMans, 24hrs Daytona Multiple championships throughout USAC divisions, IROC.

Mario: Indy 500, Daytona 500, F1 World Driving Champ, Indy Car champ(4), multiple championships in Usac.

Larson: Nascar champ, 24hrs Daytona, Knoxville Nats, Lawrenceburg winner, UMP mod winner, mini sprint winner(last year), ESPY award, and a race at Osky where he was half trying and almost lapped the field.(must have been one heck of a race).

But hey, he has only been at it 12 years and done it all. Nothing to prove to me or anyone. After looking at those credentials AJ and Mario probably wish they could suit up tomorrow and try for at least an ESPY. 🤷*♂️

I’m personally not old enough to have seen Foyt and Mario run on the dirt so it would be foolish for me to say how they compare with ur hero. I didn’t look up the chronology to see if it took them 30-40 years to win those big events. If it did then I’ll give ur hero another 28 to try. Remember I never said he wasn’t talented. I question the lauding of a victory in a UMP modified. Something he will always have over Mario and AJ.

At this point, I no longer care what you have to say, I've talked to many that raced and were car owners against those guys and they say the same, Larson is the best natural talent they've ever seen. I didn't say Larson wasn't trying at Osky. I said he was doing something different than the chrew chief thought he should be doing and Larsons instinct was better. But I guess Stanbrough, Levi Jones Darland< Hines, Coons, Clayton, Ballou and others were chopped liver........

I think Kyle Larson is the best driver I have ever seen. I never got a chance to see Andretti or Foyt in their prime, outside of Indy. I don't think you can compare eras. I am sure all of them respect what the other has done. To win in 7 divisions at Eldora is truly impressive, but I thought winning all 3 races at the 4 crown was more impressive.

Maybe I should have rephrased this topic. Apparently some are not ready to coronate Kyle quite yet. I’m not sure I’m ready to put him with the giants of the sport yet, but I think he’s got the most potential of anyone I know to approach that level. My main point is his record and versatility at the Big E. It has absolutely nothing to do with purse or Chili Bowl. He raced a UMP modified for the first time ever against stout competition and won. Going back to 2011 when it was the first time he stepped on the property and swept the USAC portion of the 4 Crown. No other way to describe it other than impressive

Indy would be boring to him compared to running a UMP modified at a track he has had great success at with tougher classes? Although the modified field was solid for that class, it still had very few people who race for a living. I think a top 15 at Indy would be a much bigger accomplishment. You have to take into consideration his lack of rear engine experience.

I meant it in a he likes 40 lap shootouts more than two hour races. But yeah, I can see where he'll have a challenge to overcome. One I think he'll easily master. GTP's at Night, Now that's a challenge. If you look at the current Nascar, GTP's and Indycar, the basic chassis is more simular than it ever has been. Yes, Rear engine is different. . But the timing, and feel is what counts. And I think Kyle has more natural feel than anyone.

I agree that Kyle has a great natural feel. I think he is the best I have ever seen. I think Indy is a tough track, with 4 90 degree relatively flat turns with little banking. Doing that at an average speed of over 220 mph. Even faster on the straights. The track is fairly narrow. I don't think he will be bored easily.
