I've gone to the last two 4 crowns but not sure I will go back this year. After the call to rip up the track after heats and ensuing couple hour delay, I am worried about a disappointing repeat. Anyone else feel the same?
Are the racesavers running separate? If so, why don't they just run open sprints. Any 305 guys wanting to run non wing can give it a shot. Seems to make sense to me. Give you the most cars.

My first trip to Eldora was for last year's 4 Crown. I was kind of disappointed that it didn't seem crazy fast like it used to be....
But I hope to give it another chance

Also, there seems to be a misconception about this place being slow now. I assure you after watching the winged sprints from the infield go under 13 seconds in qualifying, it is far from slow. I believe quick time Thursday night of the King's Royal was only a tenth off the track record, a record that I believe was established when weight rules were different and the cars weighed a little less than they do now. I know I'm referring to winged sprints, but the non wing cars weren't slow in May either.
The Big E is still bad fast and still takes a load of courage to run right up against the wall. I was already a big Christopher Bell fan, but I gained so much respect after watching him rip the fence Saturday night of the King's Royal to come from 20th to 2nd with no cautions that I went and bought one of his shirts after the checkers.
The quality of racing is a subjective matter. Speed is not. The laps turned there show Eldora is still wildly fast. The only time I've seen otherwise was last year's sprintacular when it was incredibly slick.
Another fact is no other track offers USAC's top three divisions in one night all year. And for those of us who enjoy winging it as well, we get the all stars. Eldora has great ticket prices, cheap concessions, great racing, and a large seating capacity. It may get dusty, and it may not be the original house Earl built, but Tony is going to continue to get my money because I rarely leave disappointed.
Wish I could have gone to "Lets Race 2" .... 2 classes sounds more workable than 4. 4 Crown took too damn long last year
Don't know anything about track records, but visually didn't seem any faster than most half miles... not to diss the place, just my perception....

Yea, I actually fell asleep during Silver Crown & went home before it was over, Windom was way ahead anyway, If it was close I might have tried drinking more coffee & toughing it out... (&I'm a nite owl)
I'm not gonna 2nd guess Tony on track prep, he obviously knows way more than me, but it just took too long. Maybe they should leave out Allstars, or IMHO (& I know lots of fans disagree) leave out time trials & just draw for heat starts, base A-Main lineup on heat finish...
I would love to go back, but PLEASE don't draw it out so long, Tony...
"Lets Race 2"? Absolutely want to see that one!!!

We are eventually going to destroy what we love through saturation and tracks in the same region chasing same fans, competitors and their dollars. Read about what happened to midget racing a few decades back!
