Had a good time. Dad, Uncle and Dad's GF came and it was a plesant evening.
Got multiple hugs from the Darland Gals (Susan and Deb) and a bonus, Kelly hug and got to see Mudpacker as well.
Glad to see DD and the Phillips team put two solid performances together (They've been snakebit all year) Was also to great to see CJ Leary win one in the family car. CJ just runs well at LBurg, They came down three our four years ago and won a couple races and decided to just run for the championship and they won a couple more and got the championship. He can just find speed there and it shows. Glad they got their team roliing as well.
Ballou shot like a cannon and went from 8th to fourth in a lap or two before finishing fifth.
Felt bad for Boespflug and Stockon They are both competiors for the win when the pieces are in place.
Absolutely stacked field. Hope everyone has a safe remainder of the week.
Was also good to see Stephen Cording and his better half.

Other than in qualifying, at no point did anybody have or even come close to having anything for C. J Leary, tonight. Started in the 3rd row of the heat, quickly raced to the front and drove off. In the feature, started in the second row, had brief skirmishes with Hunter and Bacon and then just said "hasta la vista." Simple as that. Sometimes you get to see races that go down to the wire and other times you don't, but you are witness an individual performance that is just as spellbinding to the crowd as the first type of race. Both of those types of races, you get your money's worth. Tonight, you got to see C J Leary do what most race fans like to see. A courageous driver that just goes up and runs the wall for 30 laps, on a big, high banked, scary track. Not only did he do that, but he also made some pretty bold moves, getting in and out of lapped traffic. That would have been a perfect opportunity to fall prey to the 2-Time USAC champ, who was looming back in second. But that didn't happen. Other than that, the other notable performance was Kevin Thomas, Jr methodically working his way through the top 10 and taking the last podium spot away from Dave Darland at the very end. It was a great night for CJ, Donnie Gentry and that whole team.

My first time to Lawrenceburg, nice facility, pretty drive on Rt.1. I guess landscape gets interesting as you approach Ohio River. Ran into an Aussie with a Tony Funk & the Homewreckers T-shirt at a rest area, turned out to be a friend of good ole BrentTfunk. Never saw a track with a dip on the straights before....
It was over about 10:15, got a great headstart on my drive East tonite...easy cruise all the way to Zanesville Ohio, beginning of Appalachians, even prettier drive tomorrow.... no coffee either, just good tunes & energy from the race
One question & I've probably asked it before: If A-Main lineup is determined by Time Trials, best times from heat qualifiers inverted Top 6, whats the incentive to win the heat? (as long as you're in Top 4) Likewise with the B, winner doesn't gain anything over 6th finisher, goes to qualifying time again..
It sure seems like guys are trying to win heats & B Main, taking chances, but I can't see why. makes no sense to me
I like the idea of racing your way in, not basing it on Time Trials

If you slow down you may be passed at the end and lose your good starting spot. Also heat races score points. I think this is the best method out there. Sure your time trial means a lot, but you have to race to use it.

Yes if you're running for the usac national championship those heat race points become very important. That's why they're so racy in the heats. Agreed that this is the best method
