One difficulty with this is that some of the more recent standouts have moved up quickly to other series. Many probably never got to their best because they moved on. Gordon, Yeley, Stenhouse, even guys like Bell and Abreu who are trembdous talents don't stick around long enough to reach greatness. Our loss I guess.

The rest of the awesome drivers didn't make it past the Hooligan on this date.
No Darland, he would have not been in the Hooligan, would have transferred out of the heat.

Adding to my last post.

Missed Tony Stewart. He certainly deserves to be in there somewhere and I don't care what some drunk in Tulsa says about that.

Sammy Swindell. Not my favorite but I admit he is worthy without a doubt.

Mario and Jeff Gordon: Certainly worthy. I put Robbie Stanley in there instead because of his record.

Bobby Grim. I don't know if he would make it but I would have loved to see him in the Black Deuce.

Allen, McSpadden, Oskie, O'Connor, Amati, Schatz, Haud...all good choices.

I will put one more name out there who I've read about, mostly in other's biographies. Al Gordon. He won a slew of races starting in the 1920s on up to his death. He was a mentor to some drivers most notably Ted Horn. Like Dick Gaines he never made the big stage (Indy 500). I would like to know how he would stack up among the greats.

I have looked a 3 or 4 of the dream race lineups in this thread. If there was a way to make something like that happen I can guarantee you nobody would finish last in those fields.

in a way. Some of today's races are almost dream status.
In no Sprintweek race are you going to find any slouches in the A main and most of the B.s would be any tracks dream normal feature.

With this field on a large heavy track holes meaning big deep THAT I think 2 guys would run away from everybody First I think Big Jud Larson bounceing the car up and against the guardrail and hearing Big Juds laugh as its happening and Grandpa Don Branson peeking everywhere trying ti get by Jud
