Where I'm at is either finding a taller caged car or raising the cage on mine.

Yesterday we concentrated on getting the seat as low as I could live with. If I decide to change the cage I'm going to raise the seat bottom to where my legs are perfect then just put the cage wherever it needs to go.

But then let me ask this: running nonwing it seems to me there would be some advantage to keeping the driver's body mass as low as possible in the car.

From my experience you could have the car as perfectly "setup" as far as low mass, low cog, perfect balance, etc.... But if you aren't comfortable in the car it will not matter because you will never truly drive the car to its full potential..... I learned this the hard way this year....

I ran my car the first 6 races of the year with the seat down low to give me the most head room as possible... I was never truly comfortable in the car though, I adjusted my seat to where I was 100% comfortable and it was a world of difference as far as feel/feedback from the car and confidence.....


What car do you have out of curiosity? And how tall are you?

I'm 5'11'-6'.

Oh I'm not familiar with the erc chassis, only have reference to a henchcraft as far as lightenings go.
My best advice would be get comfortable in the car and have it built higher to suit you, or sell it and pick up a larger frame.... The henchcrafts are extremely roomy. So are the hypers

Read a post where someone was concerned about getting a driver out of car w/ a halo on top cage, not sure what someone meant by halo? We race w/ a driver that's added a 2nd loop just like top of the cage to give him more head room & it bolts to wing mounts. As far as getting a driver out of a car I saw a safety crew use a wrecker which I thought was weird but worked & driver was ok But yes I like to see at least 3" minimum for head clearance from helmet to top of cage, 4" is better
