My point is, Feld isn't going to give us the time of day... so to speak.

Thank God the Feld company are not the only people putting on dirt shows in stadiums around the USA. There are also a lot of smaller outfits doing the same thing, at least that is what they say in their perspective. I would work on one of them smaller groups, they may be looking for a way to share expense with someone.

Right now Du Quoin is where it is at and in just 25 days.

As someone who has worked with several of these companies, there are several things that go into the contracts on these events. #1 your bigger stadiums will not rent to 1 promoter for the first few days, then another promoter for the last few days. This is basically damage concerns. Also a group like Feld will not set up a 2nd event because there is no way they could sell out a large facility. THey will also not take any injury risk. They have there business model and it works.
#2 many of the big contracts have non compete clauses. For example Feld has a 2 or 3 month clause in there contract. No motor sports events may be held 2 months prior to there event or 2 months after there event.
#3 Daily cost- as stupid as it may sound, in many venues large groups like feld will start removing the dirt that night. They will have everything removed within 24 to 36 hours of the event ending. Every building has a daily cost. Many feld events happen on back to back weekends (monster Jam 1 weekend, motocross the next weekend). They will truck all of the dirt out by the end of the day sunday. Then haul it all back in starting on wed. It is cheaper to haul the dirt out, then right back in than it is to leave it in the stadium all week long.

The cheepest way to race indoors is on concrete. That will not happen in Indy, because the field is permante. I know it sounds stupid, but under all of that dirt is 2 to 3 layers of plywood. Then plastic, then the actual field.

Regarding the dirt at a supercross race....Feld owns every bucketload of dirt used at every race...they have owned it all for years, they store it in a controlled environment all year long, and after they use it it goes back into storage for next year. No way are they going to let another entity compromise their investment in buying and maintaining their dirt.

We are all setting around and talking about why can't we get somebody to put on a Chili Bowl type race for us. We have managed to find all kinds of reasons why it will not work. Well the Chili Bowl did not start out with a 300 car count in the pits its first time out. It started out with a couple of guys that said why not.

We have a guy right now that is saying why not. He has already secured his purse, the arena is rented, and I don't hear anybody talking about supporting his efforts. That doesn't seem like a good way to encourage more races for the future. This guy may not be renting the big time arenas out there but he does rent the Center in Du Quoin Il. and the Bull Ring in Ocala Fl. If he sees that he can make a buck more races will follow I am sure. His talking about races in Indiana during the winter, and there is more than one place in Indiana that could host a race.

Why can't we get together for one weekend in March barring tornadoes and support this race. We will be running for $2000.00 to the winner, perhaps it would be better for us to keep our mouth shut, but then I go back and have to say "Boy I Love Competition"

At some of the west coast races they have Monster Trucks the following weekend. I believe the NMRA tqs have run exhibition races at Anaheim Stadium during a couple of these shows.

Feld also promotes a significant number of Monster Truck events so that makes perfect sense....It would sure be cool if they would consistently book some sort of open wheel race to go along with all the monster truck shows.

Sorry but its not going to happen. Anything outside of the monster trucks is considered filler. Nothing else. You want a midget race, you will be allowed to bring in 10 to 14 cars. They will get 1 race that will be 6 to 10 laps in length. O ya, no push trucks, they take to much time. Also there will be no yellow flags. the first flip that results in a red flag will be the end of your race. There will be no wreckers either. If the car can not be removed with a bobcat, it will become part of the course. There business model works. They do not need to add anything to there shows, they already drawl enough fans. Everything I just described happened at the show last weekend in Arlington, TX. The cars they removed with a bobcat were legands cars. Lets just say neither driver was happy. O ya 1 more reason why this will not happen, there is 0 pit space. The monster trucks take up all of the space. There is no way they would let 10 toter homes come in to park. If you want to run indoors, and there is a promotor doing indoor shows, you need to support them. The only way the big boys are going to throw you a bone is the way I have listed above. By the way, if you do not believe me, call me up and you can talk with the other officials that help me out. A filler is act is just that.

That is exacty what we were at Freedom Hall in Louisville. We had it a whole lot better than you described however. The promoter "Buck" Beasley put on several monster truck shows around Kentucky. He was not affiliated with the bigger guys but still brought in trucks like Grave Digger, Big Foot and others for a show. We were filler but he sure treated us good. We got I think 5 general admission tickets each and 3 pit passes, there were no entry fees and he payed in trophys and cash. He allowed us 15 cars, ran 2 heats and a feature and allowed us to pit inside with the trucks. He liked the mini sprints for their self starters and wheel to wheel racing. The best thing in it for us was we got to race in front of more than 10,000 fans for two nights.

The last show was snowed out several years ago and the economy has not allowed for any of "Buck's" shows to be put on for the last couple of years. They sure were a lot of fun.

We have a promoter that wants to make us the top of the card, We need to support him.

Would the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum be big enough?
