Enjoyable racing both nights, but I sure hope we can get the non-wing sprint cars back next year. I noticed a lot of people used the time that the sprint cars were running to visit the restrooms, concessions, etc. Reminded me of how a lot of sprint car fans react when modifieds or some other support class appears on the track. I stayed for most of the sprint car feature, left during one of the red flag interruptions. The winged cars are spectacular, but the midgets and non-wing sprint cars provide more side by side racing.
I am so glad that the Gundakers are making the effort to build up midget racing and will continue to support them while lobbying to get my favorite type of sprint car back as a support class.

I also would like the non-wing cars back Ron, but I don't know that I saw the same thing in turn 1 seating, about a lot of fans getting up when the winged cars hit the track. That was a very solid winged field last night with McCarl, Madsen, Chris Bell, Hull, Clauson etc. That being said, the non wing stuff does provide more side by side and is my preference as well.

Yes, it was a solid field, no doubt. I based my statement on what I saw in the second section toward the flag stand in the first turn, where I was seated. Most of the people in the four rows in front of me, and some in the section to the left, missed parts of the winged program. A few missed all of the heats. I did notice a considerable number of fans making an early exodus during the feature. I left because it appeared a foregone conclusion that McCarl had it in the bag, and also the lateness of the hour and drive ahead of me.

I agree Ron.

Doesn't look good for tonight. Wish weather would do 1 or the other. I hate this holding pattern stuff.
I always end up getting wet!

Peace & love to all.

USAC just posted on twitter.
Tomorrow would serve as tonight's "Gold Crown" rain date if necessary, but all intentions are to complete the program finale tonight!

Rich,

I just saw that. I hope they decide soon. I, too, hate holding patterns. If I don't leave soon, then there is a birthday party I have to get ready to go to. Also, if I arrive too late, parking becomes an issue. Got detoured yesterday by a car on fire, and that made me a little late. Thank goodness I have a GPS or I might still be wandering around the streets of Pontoon Beach. Well, at least I got to see the Cahokia Mounds!
