Forget TV, I'd rather have it online. If the MavTV Jackslash deal showed me anything, it's that I spend $140 a month for cable and internet and I really only do this to appease my wife and daughter.
I'd much rather start and stop watching when I feel like it.

I'd be happy with a weekly 1/2 hour USAC Open Wheel highlight show. Anything would be better than the 30 to 45 seconds we get ever other week on the NASCAR network.

The first step would be getting the grandstands at weekly and USAC shows to be overflowing with 8-28 year old males wearing flat billed caps, skinny jeans and skate shoes...50% of the males between ages 18-28 should have multiple tattoos and some piercings. For every 3 of the above mentioned males there needs to be 1 female in the same age bracket with some piercings or tats, blue, green or pink streaks in their hair, and very tight fitting jeans and low cut tank tops.
Once we see the stands full of this demographic we then need to get all of these fans to repeatedly mention USAC or Gas City Speedway on twitter.
Once we have a very solid following and social media presence from this demographic we will start to notice that every car on the track has a sticker advertising MONSTER ENERGY DRINK, REDBULL, NOS, ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK or something similar.
Then, as awareness rises we will need to get FORD, GM, MOPAR and TOYOTA to support 4 cars each with full factory status and several more cars with limited support.
Finally, one of the above mentioned companies will realize how popular this sport is with their target market and the money will start flowing by the truckload. Soon Rockstar and Redbull will have a bidding war over who gets to be the series sponsor and pay for 17 weekends of live TV each year.
There are several reasons why AMA supercross has so much TV time...the popularity and the money go hand in hand. Until we prove that our sport is such a draw for the above mentioned demographic I wouldn't expect to see anything close to what we want for TV coverage.

If a network thought there was money to be made then sprint cars would be on tv. It always comes down to money. I always thought that the winter series the Outlaws had out at Canyon Speedway 20 years ago hurt the sport as for as live tv. Constant yellows and not a great track at the time made for some terrible shows. I'm a fan and still could hardly stomach it. I think Pat Patterson was the guy behind it. It should've taken place at Manzanita and not Canyon.

A few things since I tossed this up here
Somebody found the money or Traxxs wouldn't be on TV. They'll push it as cutting edge, but after the first couple of laps, it isn't that exciting.
The demographic question has a lot of different angles. As I posted in a different thread, how do we get those people in the seats? I don't have a definitive answer, but I have put out a few ideas.Does anyone have anymore?
As for down time, make all TV shows Sprint/Midget doubleheaders. That solves the downtime problem. All racing , all the time.
The last problem is name recognition. The local guys are unheard of 300 miles from here. The biggest recognizable name of late is Kyle Larson, on a national scale. But when he's mentioned on TV, USAC is a blip on the RADAR. In the old days , State Fairgrounds on Friday, the 500 on Sunday. You saw drivers do both. Now USAC doesn't have a big league, so the local doesn't get national exposure, neither does the racing. This is a big problem.
If you are going to be a feeder series, play on that. Right now USAC is THE feeder for Nascrap, play on it. See the future stars of NASCRAP, following in the footsteps of Gordon, Stewart, ETC. I have enough people ask me how I know these guys, I tell them from Bloomington, Terre Haute, Eldora and other local tracks. I tell them if you want see them go to a local show.
That's just a few things.

How many dirt tracks in Indiana would be able to have a television production company walk in and say... yep you (the track) have everything we (production company) need to successfully do a live television broadcast?
We love our dirt tracks but most of them are still operating in the dark ages.
You bring a professional out and when you ask him about doing a live broadcast from one of our tracks... His response would be, You're joking right?
About the best we can hope for right now is a 30 minute "highlight" show on MAVTV and since there has been an ongoing issue between USAC and Jackslash... We won't even be seeing 30 minutes of highlights from a USAC race.
