Perhaps WOO will follow BOSS's lead. I wonder why nobody else is?

every sprint car series in the entire country (ASCS, WoO, USAC, ASCoC, NCRA, Knoxville, Williams Grove etc) should run the same tire. Any race track that runs a weekly sprint car show or any sprint car sanctioning body should all be on the same tire. Now that's "cost effective". If you want to go to a sprint car show somewhere you dont have to worry about their rules, if you have a sprint car in the trailer you can race

Stiffer side wall tires lead to better winged racing. Open tires lead to worse winged racing. There's a reason why they run spec tires.

2 things here

1 if they go back tot he spec tire I would really like the rule to read you may run x,y,or z tires but you may also run the standard weekly tire of the track that you are racing at. That would really stir up a few races.

2 with all of the tire preping agents these days, the only tire rule is you must start with tire x. I have been to several different sprint car races over the last 5 years, and have yet to see anyone actually teching the tires. Normally they are just looking for a make on the tire.

Although it's not really a series yet (but hopefully in 2013) the Ontario Topless Sprints is an open tire deal and likely will always remain that way. Hoping very much to become a real series in 2013.

Awesome News now others can afford to run with WoO without having to buy their Goodyear tires.

I agree with a open tire rule, I always thought that was the business way, open competion. I hope you guys huge success, if the canadians can wheel a car like they can ride speedway it will be real good. Speedway was great when the boys from Canada used to come down, fierce competitors.

I don’t think most of you on this board are old enough or have ever raced a car with an open tire rule. This probably works with local series but when a high profile or national series has an open tire rule it provides nothing good except for the teams at the top. Manufacturers want to win in these series to help sell tires. To accomplish this they provide unlimited tires to a few top teams who they will put under contract. These teams will also occasionally use test tires that are not available to everyone to provide both a development curve and an advantage. This happened in the early 90’s when for example Irish from Hoosier would bring to the track special tires to Rich Vogler in the back of his van. Chuck Copacchi(sp?) used to do the same thing for Goodyear teams for Silver Crown and pavement races. If you want the top teams to have an unlimited supply of better tires that you can’t even buy then an open tire rule is the way to go. Even if you forget about the point funds and all the other PR BS, spec tires are where racing needs to be.
