I completely agree with the field getting stronger. Usac has not really helped the little 500 for several years. The night before the 500 midget race pulls most of the drivers, so very few ran the 500. With Must See growing like they are, I bet atleast 45 cars take time this year. Can not wait, love the little 500.
Hay if you like the late model races at Anderson, you need to see this race. These drivers will show you Anderson has multiple grooves. If you can't pass on the high side, your a setting duck!

I'm not a pavement Guy myself really, but the little 500 is my favorite race of the year. Ground pounding noise, and very good racing with added elements of drama for a few non stop hours. Go to this race, you will only be mad you haven't gone sooner!

Don't forget that the beginning of the younger, stronger generation just starting to push out the old guys is starting also - witness last year's finish. Likely this trend will be seen again this yr - only making things more interesting - happens in every series - the Foyts, Andrettis, Pettys, Pearsons, etc all have to retire eventually (or be moved out of the way) ...

And, I agree that the field gets stronger each year. Are the days of winning by 4 or 5 laps a 'thing of the past'? I think YES! Posted via Mobile Device
Yes the field is starting to get younger again. I can tell you this, if I was a young guy tring to win this race in a car that may not be front row quality, I would do everything I could to try to work with Chet Phillip. Things have not quite worked out for him the last few years, but team strategy always gets him the lead at some point. These crazy strategies keep him a contender. Right now when I think about this years little 500, my number 1 thought is what will Chet have up his sleeve this year?
Problem: Slow Push Trucks
Solution: Push start the car by hand
Problem: Slow refueling
Solution: refuel with 2 cans at the same time
2 off the top of my head. Things like this are what makes this race awsome!

Not getting to picky here but if you were a young guy wanting to work with Chet Fillip, you might want to get his name right.
I had friends crew for him when he raced at Indy and also when he ran a supermodified at Oswego Speedway, guess that is where I learned the unique spelling of his name.

I thought his last name started with an F, but I am the worlds worst speller. I figured I would go the safe way with the Ph. This year will be my 21st Little 500. Walked out of Indy with 5 laps to go last year, just to make sure I made it to Anderson in time.
