I stayed home because knew track would be bad with all those stocks and they don't run track in very good. Did they get people in and take money?

Hmmmmm.....because we race mini sprints and Lawrenceburg wasn't running mini sprints.

Yeah, that was why.

That was my plan but my kid talked me into going....as soon as I heard his phone ring I knew it was the cancellation notice.

Oh well, saved me an evening of freezing my rear end off.

Probably afraid the track wouldn't be a hard slick dustbowl. Haubstadt ran, the Burg ran, and Putnamville ran. Vernon is in the middle and couldn't pull it off. The track itself is a great track, track prep isn't. Never enough water on it and when it is wet enough to put on a decent show, most of the time they cancel. I would love to see Tommy Helfrich work his Haubstadt 'magic' on that track just one time.
In the 60's when Pat Fry owned the place and Kenny Woods had a hand in running it the track prep was great considering what little equipment they had to work with back then. The 70's and most of the 80's they kept it watered and had a tacky / racy surface also.
Probably a good call though considering the crappy weather, just should have made it much earlier.....But then again the surrounding tracks ran?

It's management's right to cancel if they choose.

It is sad to see what has become of that place. It could be a great track with some re-investment for upgrades but really if somebody would do something to the track surface would be a start. When you go to the first race of the year and see washouts from where water ran down the surface all winter, something is wrong with that picture.

Stand on the loud pedal and turn left!
