Before you wrote this post, you must have sat down and thought "Alright, what words must put in one short sentence to convey the fact that I know absolutely nothing about this event."

pretty sad that we're at a point of the season that in which Larson would run 2nd to someone it almost seems like a disappointment lol

I agree with Morty. Kyle Larson has had one of the best overall years anybody has ever had. But he hasn't dominated any one division. Last time I checked, he was still behind both Clauson and Hagen in USAC points. And he's ran all the races, just like they have. So those two guys sure as hell aren't going to just lay down and let Kyle go by. Clauson's still the USAC Midget champion until somebody can take that away from him. And people who went to all three midget events here last year, know that those two are fast as hell on and know how to win this track. As great as both of them, Jerry Coons and others were in the midget classic that took place at this event last year, Steve Buckwalter was the one that emerged from the fantastic melee that was the first 20 or so laps of this race. He looked to be the man, but had his heart broken, as his car broke on the backstretch, shortly afterwards. Add to that Brad Sweet, who is at the very top of his game, right now. He'll be there for one reason. He'll be there just to win and could give a rat's ass about points.
All I'm saying is that if you go there (or don't go) thinking the outcome and the racing at this track will be predictable, I'm telling you, this place will make you look like a fool.

I just watched the feature from last year's final again on USAC's site, and what a race. I'm getting excited, I hope the weather is good. Thanks to the Gundakers for putting this on, it truly is one of the best events of the year. Pretty tough to pick a winner. Larson, Clauson, Hagen, Coons, Sweet, Buckwalter, Loyet just for starters.
For those about to rock, we salute you.
