BIG THANKS to the promoters and USAC! Unfortunately I cannot make a single one that weekend...maybe Kokomo but that might be pushing my luck.

I am excited! Three great tracks and 90 laps of non-stop action. This news has made a long monday much better.

One of the worst excuses for calling in sick when you work at a cheese factory is saying you have the runs, you know what i mean?

Tim, I used the out of town funeral of a friend back in 2004 when I was helping HAR and went with them to Missouri and Tulsa, Okla in September of that year...if memory serves me correctly that was the first 2 races Jerry drove the car. I have to admit that I felt bad about making that excuse up to get out of work...didn't feel bad about getting out of work but I know I would have felt really bad if something had happened to one of my friends. I had this funny feeling for the whole trip, but, fortunately nothing happened. Back in 1982 I remember talking to Rick Nichols after an Eldora All Star race. I asked him how he got out of work to make all of the races..he said "oh, I've had an Aunt die 4 or 5 times."

The problem is i just can't afford to take a no pay day and then go to the races. Pulling it off at work is one thing but my wife is a foot taller than me (which most people are) and i'm no match for her possible retalliation for an incident like this.

This was supposed to be the first "Road to the Hewitt" race of the season. I guess it won't be now.
