This used to be a really enjoyable forum, but lately it seems it is nothing but personal attacks.

I appreciate anyone trying to get a midget series going in Indiana, because folks we don't have one, and with the exception of midget week we don't get to see midgets run very often for an area that is heavily populated with them.

BTW, I think by most track policies Gurley went above what he was expected to do. A large majority of tracks with rainouts/lights blow up/etc.. before the feature is set is typically a admission/pit pass refund or raincheck only. He went ahead and paid tow money beyond the raincheck.

Montpelier will be a much better ran facility with track prep that is spotless. It's to bad they didn't start the series there.

I hope you get to use those RR tires again! I was in one of the mini-sprints and had a blast while we got to race. I thought the rules made the different cars close and was looking for some good racing in the dash. With a 1000cc upright mini-sprint you don't get the chance to take the wing off that much. We ran 2 races last year at a little bullring and that was it.
.
The cars don't cost a bunch, but it is all wing racing. I have heard before about saftey being a worry with non-wing mini-sprints on a bigger track, but last night proved it can be done safe. When I run TC with a wing, I am tring togo flat foot all the way around the place, but non-wing your off the gas and have to drive the car. Not just pushing the button and holding on.
.
I want this to work, I want to run more NON-WING!!!

A $10,000 to $15,000 to win purse would have been more in line with the stature of the race.

Once again my post referred to actual fees paid to the racing org for that particular night of racing. Other expenses are what would be spent regardless of where you are racing. Once again, it was $30 out and $100 back. I'll take that anyday of the week.

For TC, we bought one American Racer for a cheaper price than a similar Hoosier. The purchase of tires is not a peculiar issue to any one org or race. You have to buy them anyway. Doesn't make any difference if you're buying a Hoosier SP2 for the Hut or Gas City, AMCT or whatever. You usually need a new tire. By buying a cheaper American Racer, I went home with even more bucks in my pocket.
Don, I gotta agree with you, I went racing Sat nite myself, not far from TC, we run for a smaller purse, but, if we start the feature, we get a C note. We won our first heat, was leading the second heat, and the oil pump quit scavenging, my driver caught it in time, I hope, and we got $50.00 tow money, and it cost $40.00 in pit passes. Very little tire wear, it would have cost me to go and watch, so I don't count the fuel costs, the pit passes could have been movie costs, dinner at Arby's or McDonald's, so if you go, it's an expense anyway, anytime I can put the car, back in the trailer, in one piece, and get to talk with some friends, I consider it a good evening, for me, it has always been for fun, and I LIKE TO DO IT, why make such a fuss out of it, most of these folks that are ragging so much, don't own a car, work on one, or support one, so what gives them a right to pass judgement on some one who does? In my little way of figuring it, I had a good evening of fun, and some participation in something I do enjoy. I too, get tired of reading some of this ragging, especially by someone who really are happy, just stirring the pot! Bob

fuel used in the race car = $30
gas money to and from the track = $60
Pit pass for me and my crew chief = $60
Seeing a HORNET car flip out of the ball part and into the woods.......................................PRICEL ESS!!!!!!

Yes everyone there, drivers, car owners, fans in the grandstands, and fans in the pits, all spent money to get there. Everyone there has there own choice what they want to do with there own money.

I don't usual get on here and talk about stupid stuff (like the majority of the people do on here) but DON MOORE IS RIGHT, John Gurley was doing a great job with what he had to work with. He was going to call the race that morning do to weather and KNOWING there was going to be maybe 30-40 race fans in the Grandstands and he was going to loss his @$$ if he ran the race, but the true racer/promoter in him went ahead and ran the race and try to get the series going in the right direction.

NO ONE there had any idea of what that outcome was going to be. I am glad he even gave out the $100, Heck my first thought was they were going to tell us the race is cancelled and no money was going to be handed out and take ALL OF THE MONEY AND RUN.

Thank you for your time. ROGER, OVER AND OUT...................

This thread will go nowhere.

Don Moore has posted his bloated opinion again and the rest of the thread will be him insulting poster's intelligence and telling them they're off-topic and refusing to answer every single one of their on-topic counterpoints.

Now to make this on-topic, the teams got twice the tow money they would get from USAC or POWRi, HOW IS THIS WRONG??? Do you expect start money WHEN YOU DIDNT EVEN START A FEATURE???? Some of you guys must be just looking for a reason to screw John Gurley. North Vernon is a dump, the fence has been a problem FOR YEARS, the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the Fleetwoods. We can join this with their INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONALISM in the thread Mason posted last night. I hope John Gurley has the sense to stay off the board and deal with this on his own and not in public.

I've said before I don't expect the ASCT to last any longer than SCORA did but it's a damn shame if it dies because of greedy crybabies and owners of sh*thole racetracks!

what would have happened if it would have rained out? Does anyone other than non-car owners or drivers have a problem? This board is a joke. Everyone wants to go to the track but everyone can't wait to be done by 9. Everyone wants big purses but no one wants to pay a little extra to make it possible. Don Moore I will continue to cheer for your car everynight I see it. You seem to be one of a few that actually get this money pit of a sport.

I will give my two cents about this as a driver that ran Saturday Night in the Midgets.

I appreciate John trying to get a midget series going in Indiana. We have been saying it needed to be done for some time and he has steped up to do it. I knew there were going to be issues as it was first race but there were somethings that really bugged me.

The whole tire deal for the midgets is really messed up. You can run two tires Hoosier SP 4 OR American Racer SD44. Now one would think these two tires would be comparable but they are NOT!!!! The SP4 durometers at almost 70 and the SD44 durometers at a 45. That is almost a 30 point difference.

When questioned this call one person told me they would look at but they would not budge and this is what everyone said were the 2 tires that should be ran. Someone else was asked and said that this was done on purpose to push American Racer. The problem here is that one: they did not bring any tires to the track, and the American Racer is comparable to a SP2 Hoosier tire.

That was my biggest problem with everything and think that this needs to be looked at. If you want to push American Racer than make it so only one tire is legal to run...American Racer SD44.

Thats my two cents about the race. It was good racing, track was dry and was going to rubber down for the features. Was turning into a one line race on the high side.
