Boston Bob was our best man when monica and me got married in the hall of fame at knoxville in 1999 . He had never been in a wedding and was thrilled .Also there were very few pictures of Bob without his hat on , we have a few from the wedding . p.s he was from norwood .

Well count me in there too! Taxi to Calistoga, then to the Gold Cups Race Of Champs, Chico! Here's to ya Bob!

Best story, more people were around Boston Bob, than the mayor of his home town! He was talking about racing! Mayor, who is that guy? RIP

Yes, Mac was from Dover and Bob grew up in East Dedham. I believe his sister still lives in the family home. He moved to Norwood when he was about 30, and lived there the rest of his life.

Here's a question for the Midwest contingent. Bob often traveled in that area with a guy who was a school teacher from Chicago. Neither Henry nor I can remember his name. We haven't seen him for a couple of years. Does anyone know who I mean, and where he is?

It was almost 42 years ago when I was towing a 36 olds coupe to Thompson, Ct that I picked up Boston Bob thumbing on the side of the road. He told me that he was going to the races, so I replied to jump right in. I have bumped into Bob many times from Norwood Ma where Bob, and I both lived to Oswego, and Syracuse. I last saw Bob when I read on Hoseheads that he was in Norwood Hospital, so I dropped in to see him, while there I ran into Frank Borsa, who was a friend of Bobs. Sadly, Bob was transferred to Lahey Clinic where he died a few days later. Interestingly enough that 36 Olds coupe was partially owned by Don Berrio.

That's me.
Russ is the name. I would run into Henry at the 500 collectors show every year but I haven't attended that in two or three years.
Did you know Greg Godek from Ct? AKA Chainsaw Godat.

I've been way to busy to add anything in here, but Thanks to Dick Monahan, who has cost me a small fortune since I met him at Williams Grove many years ago,I roomed at Knoxville with Bob a couple years in my first trips to the Nationals in 93 and 94.Their group from Massachusetts had 5 people, and 3 seperate rooms for 2 each. I filled in the final spot on the trip.

When I met Bob & Monica Clauson at Terre Haute in 2004,it was by chance that we were setting next to each other, and Bob noticed my distinctive New England accent, and naturally asked me if I was from Boston. I told him I was from Maine, but he asked me if I knew "Boston" Bob. I told him "Yeah he was my Knoxville room mate a couple yrs" which led to a long after the races bench racing session, complete with being shown the wedding photos from the Hall of Fame when they got married there, and Bob was in their wedding.

I don't know about anyone else, but this thread and the memories of Bob makes me simultaneously sad for his loss, and very glad that I got to know him.....thanks to all for sharing their personal remembrances of a great guy!

I had to take Bob to the Golden Gate Bridge. So one September day off we went. There is a road that takes you up about the height of the tower on the north side. Then a one way road out to the light house. All you need to do look straight down about a thousand feet! Nothing like that on the East Coast! Then off the the Russian Fort Ross! Up the West Coast. This is no flat land ride! We would party with Keading's and Dr. Miller. I wonder if Doc is still around? Oh I forgot we did San Jose for several years too. Took him up to Grass Valley Ca. to get a new track under his belt then Antioch Speedway Ca. He introduced me to the Clauson family.
