the only thing that i do not like is the month of may is a family fan event and the drivers and owners all come out to greet the fans and they are signing any thing that you put in front of them (except patrick she see no one in front of her) me and my son has gone to all of the month of may action since he was 4 years old and he has been to evey indy 500 since then. i would hate to see were all that you do is do in one weekend and not be fan friendly. just do not forget about the fans they love driver and owner interaction between fans.
The big players don't need it. The ones that need it usually aren't out the first week anyway. The turnstile action, or lack thereof doesn't warrant it.
i would just as soon they run for the pole 2 weeks before the race still. as for the excitement not being there? i have not missed a 500 or a pole weekend since 1978. it's always exciting! i've always thought the formation of cart in 79 started all the bad ******** of the 500. if anything the break-away original owner(s) of cart have now come full circle. cart people should not complain. the IRL looks a whole lot like cart/champ car looked in the 90's.
