I am not a big Soccer fan, but about ten years ago, I was sitting on the couch on a weeknight with nothing better to do and said to my better half, "lets go to the Soccer match at Anaheim Stadium." She said, "It is pouring rain, are you crazy." I told her it was raining and nobody goes out in the rain in Southern California. We would be able to pick where we want to sit under cover. It was USA vs Ecuador in some kind of cup (not World) match.
Bought our tickets and went to go in. She got let straight in as they had admission lines for woman and men. I had to stand in the middle of a snarling herd of men and had to be frisked and checked with a medal wand before being admitted. When we got inside, we were joined by 53,000 other fans!!! Of them, 18 others (maybe) spoke English!
Once inside it was one of the most exciting sproting events I have ever been to. Any time a player from Ecuador touched the ball, the stadium would vibrate and roar. It was amazing! Half-time was exciting, too. With nothing better to do, the Ecuador fans threw cherry bombs and M80's at each other! After a couple minutes of seeing them fly past our heads, we decided it would be safer to grab something to eat.
Second half was great. USA won 3-2 or 2-1 and I started thinking that may not be good as the Ecuador fans were getting pissed. However, no problem and they were more than happy in the parking lot after throwing more cherry bombs and M80s at each other.
