There are several quality tracks to run sprint cars on in IL, but instead of voicing an opinion on IOW of which you would like to see, call or email them yourself and let them know.....it isn't going to happen automatically. Maybe if 20 or so driver/owners would call or write Tammy G. with some comments on a purse and some basic rules, it might be considered. Thats how SCORA ran in IL last year and ISW was started. We got on the phones and asked. Kankakee Speedway is running a poll on their website asking the fans and participants what they want to see at their track. Charleston is another place open to new ideas.
The new American Sprint Car Tour is seeking some dates for steel block cars for next year in Illinois. I talk to track owners all of the time because of my job and I am always asking and suggesting non wing sprint cars....but I'm only one voice. Help me out!
"The new American Sprint Car Tour". Can you enlighten some of us as to what this is??

How about those who go to the VCS banquet might find out that VCS will be around next year ! So don't give up. It's not my place to tell yet that Fridays will be ok in Il., until school starts I would bet.
But go to the VCS Banquet or check with your friends that did and see what they have to say.

Talk is cheap at the end of a season and there is plenty of it going around right now. I know that a lot of racers around Danville have a hard on for Joe Spiker, but every hard on goes soft after a while. Racers like to toss track operators under the bus for various reasons, I understand this and there are some tht deserve it, BUT! These guys and the people that work for them are a dying breed. Remember when you kick them they might not return and they don't grow or can be found under a rock. I have talked with Spiker about VCS & LPS & everything else, same with USAC. It's easy to get impatient but the season has just endded, all groups are working hard to put together next years schedule. USAC looks really good with a lot of surprises. POWERI has Greg Staab working Indiana for them. 2010 is going to be a great year. I'm looking forward to the IOW Racin'-Fest kicking off LPS in April of 2010. I would like to say it will be the 10th of April but can't because nobody has a solid schedule out yet. Everybody is fishing right now USAC, PowerI, UMRA, The Steel Blocks, has anybody put out a 2010 schedule yet? Not counting NASCAR, IRL & F-1.
I understand everybody wants to make plans for next year, before their equipment is apart.
Good luck to the reborn steel block series.
From what I know I think you will have 2 tracks running in Il. on Fridays.
If you don't go to the VCS Banquet on the 14th you can come to INDY for the HARF Monte Carlo night at the Brickyard Crossing.
