I Had heard that the track is still there and that Tony Stewart had tried to buy it to re open it but there was some kind of thing on the land that wouldnt allow anyone to do so. Now i do know that there is rumors saying that tony is going to buy a lot of tracks but still. I would love to see the place re open so i can see that place run!! I have a poster on my wall of the place with 35 dirt midgets and some clips of the racing. And it looked fun. Only if i was old enough to see and remember places like that run.

Man I miss that place. Good times.
The last race was a complete wrap up of the star crossed time there. Opening night was packed to the rafters.
The last DAY had a sparse crowd and there was confusion because it was a day show, but all of the advertising had it as a night show.
I still have the RR we ran there that day. Completely bald and to the cords.

I never attended a raced there, but I remember the day quite well. My mother and I stopped in the MCL Cafeteria on Crawfordsville Road on our way to IRP for the USAC races that night. There were many fans in there who had been to 16th Street and were also going to IRP. I wish I could have seen a race at 16th Street, but circumstances never allowed me to attend.

i found an open door over there last week while i was at work. the stage has big trees growing up through it, the roof is starting to fall over on the far north west side, and bums have made a home out of it........i will go over there today to see if i can get back in...put in a request to have the doors welded back shut....you know how the city works........i will try and take some pictures and post them on here.....
