While everyone is raving about how good the sprint races were, I feel the mods should get a shout out for putting on an awesome feature, as well. I hate this cliche, but you could've thrown a blanket on the top 3 in their main event.

I thought it was a tremendous opener for sprint week. BUT, now for some of the bad points. Get rid of the timing light... TRANSPONDERS! I thought they were supposed to get the racing underway at 7:00... The 1st qualifier didn't hit the track until 8:00!
Back to the question that we'll baffle me ... How does Stanbrough find moisture in what looks to be a drying track?? He started low, then moved up... then moved a little higher... a little higher, then took off and hid from everyone. That's why he's the best!

My first trip to VCS and it was worth the 2-1/2 hr trip. That track was "bad fast"! Beautiful track last night, crew did a great job! All it would of took was one yellow and the Silent Gasser would of had his hands full of the Silent Creeper (Brady Short). Wow, great night!! I say put up some more stands and run for big money at this track, its obvious the sprint drivers will come to this joint!

I've also seen transponder scoring plagued with problems in time trials, so it's not always the cure all it's cracked up to be. But I think they could have run a "Sprint Bandits" type double-heat race format in as much time as it took to qualify last night.

As for the late start, I would've hated to be one of the folks who live on the other side of the state line and lost an hour. Getting up this morning had to be tough.

Maybe Chris or someone else can answer this for me. I have a question about the transfers last night at VCS. In the first heat Wissmiller broke at the finish. The announcer said that Bobby East, the fifth place finisher in heat one, would move up and transfer. I didn't think this was correct.

When they were getting ready to start the semi, the announcer said that they would be taking 5 from the semi to the feature. This I thought was the correct procedure when a heat transfer scratches. However, Bobby East didn't start the semi nor did he start the feature. Any ideas? Did I miss something here?

Add on Question. Where the hell was Pat O'Connor fan last night. Racing in his own back yard and he is a no show. What gives Steve?????????????????

I didn't go last night because my butt is still dragging from travelling to air shows last week in Tennessee, where Kim and I got to fly in a B-17 (World War II bomber) that was built in 1945 - darn near as old as me, then Pennsylvania, and finally Indiana. Had I known in advance that Bill and Lloyd were going to be there, I would have managed to get my tired old self over there. Bill can get there shortly after his surgery, and I wimped out a couple days after my trip. You da man, Shortbus!

I'll let it slide this one time. Going to Spoon River tonight? If so, enjoy. I am hoping we get to see racing at Gas City for the opener of the USAC Midget Week.

I believe Bobby East loaded up and left, is what we were told on the radio.
