He probably will drive. If you notice he is also sponsored by Sam Pierce as well as Aaron who drove for Mike a couple years ago.I imagine its a what comes around goes around deal to help Mike so he can run the little 5.

Mike hasn't ran the Little 500 since 2002... since then, several different drivers have driven for him:

2008 - Brad Armstrong
2007 - Tate Martz
2006 - Dave Baumgartner
2004 - Danny Williams, Jr.
2003 - Aaron Pierce

The Pierce sponsorship has been there since '03... I'd almost bet the car he shows up with this year will be the same car he's had since Aaron ran it, too

So we'll see if he decides to run or put someone else in the seat.

DeCaire is indeed listed as driver of the #81 now. Will any cars actually come from Florida this year, besides maybe Steele?

27 cars entered now, still missing Windom and Steele....I'd like to see a competitive field with some bumping, at least to get the extremely slow and squirrely ones out of there. Anybody know of others preparing to run?

Troy Decaire will be driving the 81 car i talked to him a few hours ago. Steele is coming for the 2 wing shows and the 500. other than that there will probably be no others from here in Fl. i also heard that Brad Armstrong has a deal put together.I talked with Butch Dowker the other day and they will have a car for Jason Blonde so it looks like they will have a pretty good feild of cars.

The one thing that I really liked about the Little 500 was seeing all of the Florida guys come up and race. They weren't household names when they first came, but you could be sure that they left their mark. The Butler name certainly was among them.

I realize that pavement sprint car racing is very expensive and there are only certain "pockets" around the country that still do race on pavement. Florida was a true training area for the ground pounding sprinters. I look forward to this race each and every year. Let's hope we have a safe and exciting one in 2009.

In the 35 years that I have been going, it is always been full. They have a true bump day and some load up and go home with only a hope that next year will be better. With the economic situation as it is, it might be a little tougher this year but I suspect you will see 11 rows of 3 come 8:00 PM on May 23rd.
