Personally I don't care what USAC charges. If they would run a decent show then we wouldn't even be talking about sanctioning fees. You would think that after watching POWRi kick their butt time after time with the midget races they would learn something from it. POWRi went to the transponders, they have officials that get tough with the participants that don't want to listen and run shows that don't take 20 yellow flag laps to get the cars lined back up after a yellow. They consistently get people out of the stands and on their way home between 10:30 & 11 pm. Too much baloney and not enough public information. I can't speak for everyone but what I want to see from a promoter and the sanctioning body is a decent size field of cars, race track that is properly prepped, races run on schedule and an informative announcer. Someone will say that USAC is only the sanctioning body which is true but they have to work as a team with everyone and they seem to fail at this time after time. It is time they get it right or their tent will fold.

That's strange because every USAC
Midget race I went to last year ran like clock work. Who do you work for anyway? Or, you're just another winged sprint car fan bashing USAC. How bout this....move the Chili Bowl to Indianapolis and we'll see which club is better off in 5 years. If Power I is so great and strong why do they allow most of their tracks to run 15 classes of stock cars? I can't stand to attend for that reason alone. |

I truly do not understand the love affair with POWRi. POWRi does a good job of being a regional race series. They understand what their drivers want and do a good job or catering to those drivers. POWRi does a good job on small tracks around the St Louis area. They do not take on big travel, nor do they do a bunch of mid-week shows. Take them away from St Louis or take them away from the small tracks and they have issues. I have been to plenty of POWRi races in the KC area that did not have a full field of cars. (24 cars)
POWRi also has a big issue with big name stars. Take Zach Daum out of the list and most people will have a hard time naming the POWRi stars. Finally, I have an issue with POWRi scheduling against some of the biggest midget races in the country. We know that they have scheduled against the Belleville Midget Nationals, and the Gold Crown in the past. I would think a co-sanction would be the best answer, but if not a co-sanction at least take the night off so the teams that wanted to could attend the biggest midget races in the country. I fell in love with the midgets at Angell Park during my one year is Wisconsin and I will support what ever midget series that is near by. USAC, POWRi, AMS (KC based group) I think that a good midget race is the best entertainment on dirt. I just wish that their was more cooperation among the groups. |

Thats all true and when many of these partnerships developed it was billed as a huge new market to get sponsors and media outlets for the Champ/Spint/Midget divisions.
What happened?
