Bottom line, wings=tied down faster cars not a ton of passing. Cars have enough down force most of the time it's single file follow the leader.
Non wing= elbows up, hammer down, back it in, drive the wheels off, slide job city, wheel banging open wheel racing. The way it's supposed to be. Speed doesn't make for better racing wheel to wheel action does and there's a lot more of that in non wing than wing racing. Wing racing only gets more pub because they are easier to market with the huge crutch/billboard on top for sponsors. For the record this is JMO! |

Wings are so much faster and you can't make a mistake therfore makes better divers.
Last 4 races at Haubstadt were won off front row? Although the race for the win was good on the last one. |

Speed, jaw dropping, obnoxious speed. That's what wing cars are all about. I'm willing to sit through the snoozers to see the one race all season where three wing cars hit the setup on a 2 groove track and hammer through lap traffic at 130 mph (100 mph on a bullring), throwing sliders on each other at each corner. Non wing has more good races, but the GREAT wing races are what bring me back to the track.
I know this a non wing site so I expect to be told how stupid I am for liking wings. |

I love racing. All types of racing. If it is competitive I like to watch it. I feel I have the best odds of seeing a great race when I go to a midget race, non wing of course. Belle-Clair, correct Andrew? In saying that I still attend any other kind of racing I can. Silver Crown, ARCA, Sprint cars, Mini Sprint, Late Model, Modified, go-carts, motorcycles & boats. I am a motorsports enthusiast. I really don't see why one group bashes the other. We all need to support the entire industry as much as we can or none of it will be around for any of us or the next generation!

The continued success of the WoO's drawing full house crowds around the country just really grates on some non-wing only fans. It's hilarious. I love'em both and wish nothing but prosperity for both classes. They're all sprint cars so how bad can it be? I'll be at the Smackdown for all three days and will love it - right, Mother Nature? - but watching and feeling winged cars at Eldora still gets me fired up and I've been going there since 1972.

Some have and some haven't but if you get a chance to see the winged sprint cars, World of Outlaws @ Pevely I guarantee you it will be worth the drive. They put on a great show.

That said, I'm starting to prefer non-wing, not much of that where I hang out, which is why I'm flying to Kokomo Smackdown.... hoping for sunshine! ![]() |

I prefer sprint cars without wings but i love them all, with or without. I am sad for those of us who don't take in a race in our area because of aerodynamics. It's pretty much been my take you can find a battle on the track somewhere, it just may not be for the win. And while i love to see someone start last and win, the guys that started 6th and 7th been throwing sliders and banging wheels for 30 laps and are still in those spots but been a blast to watch. Bottom line, go to a sprint car race and if you pay attention, wing or not, you'll see something that reminds you why you love em!
