Perfect time for you to buy a beer and a hot dog before the race starts.

When I was a kid the cars, drivers, and crews lining up on the front stretch for everyone to see before the race, and going into the pits after the race to see it all again post race and get the winners autograph,.. that was big time awesome! Especially on the big 1 mile tracks. That is the kind of stuff that makes race fans, like this one!

I believe the theory is that Silver Crown is the premier division of USAC. As such, there should be some ceremonies to celebrate the series, some traditions tying it to its star-studded history. One of these should certainly be driver introductions. Back in the day, fans had read about the drivers of these cars also competing in the Indianapolis 500. Getting to see them in person was a big deal. Now, I think only one of them has driven in the 500 (and that is indeed a shame), but the tradition should be carried on. Great racers are still driving Silver Crown cars, and the crowd should have a chance to see them, to know who they are, and to salute them.

As an announcer, on track driver intros are my favorite thing to do. Really gives it a prize fight feel to it

Front stretch! Everyone here has hit it on the head so far (except jonr, who is probably one of those guys in the crowd screaming "hurry up hurry up" every break in the program). It gives us fans a chance to put faces with names, seeing our heroes face to face and not just seeing a helmet and sponsor firesuit. Big Cheers for the teams too, the backbone of the race team. Looking forward to the Hoosier 100 on Thursday May 23rd this year, my favorite race of the year, bob.

Grid them on front stretch. It gives a big time feel to the race. When I was growing up at the old Warsaw Speedway the Mid Season and Season championship races were lined up on front stretch and drivers introduced. When I started racing they were the highlights of the year
Made me think back and have great memories.

So does Sargent want to skip that too so he can fit in another class of fenders?
