I was pretty impressed with the amount of fan appreciation that was displayed that day. It made it real easy to leave a lasting impression on a young race fan.
I know the AMA Grand National Flat Track motorcycle races I have attended at Greenville and Lima, Ohio both had a 45 open pit area for fans after qualifying....and the fans loved it...all of the riders had a table set up at their pit signing autograph cards....but the AMA Flat Track dirt races are an EVENT with various show booths set up on the grounds.

Angell Park in Sun Prairie also has an open pit before the races.

Billy, Thanks for the tootsie rolls at my one man tailgate prior to a show at Gas City last fall. Very fan friendly gesture to a fan who traveled 3 hrs. to watch the best sprint car drivers in the world compete. See you in the Gas City pits before the opening show in April. Thanks to gas City for letting the fans in before the races!

As a driver it’s great to get the fans in the pits, and several of the families that help us go to Gas City for this reason as they can bring small kids into the pits early in the night. Would love to see more tracks do this and the 50/50 ticket is a little revenue for the track, and cheap pit pass for the fans.
I would love to be able to hang around after the races every night to meet more fans. But since most places run sprinters first and if we are racing the next night or have a long haul home. We hardly stay late, and I hate that since I met many drivers after the races as a kid.
