Some sprint car fans are so stuck up its unbelievable. Sprint car racing is great and it has a loyal fan base. I hate to break everyone's heart but there are not as many sprint car fans as there are modified fans. Modifieds are across
the country, and are very big in the Midwest (Iowa, Minnesota, ect). Nonwing Sprint cars are mainly Indiana and California. If you go to iowa with a non wing car I bet fans would act like your the support class to the mods.

As for the race its an excellent format and outstanding purse. Deer creek is a top notch track that hopefully I will make it to someday. I'd drive to Iowa to watch this if I wasn't racing myself.

As for a big paying sprint car race, the reason there aren't any with purses like this is because they don't attract enough cars. If all the circumstances were right a race with this purse for sprints would be lucky to attract 75 sprints. There are just not enough non wing cars to support it. The mopar million had a much larger purse and It attracted 138 cars. And that was at a time when the economy was much better and there was a lot more cars around. This mod race attracted over 150 cars last year.

What it boils down to is where you are. If you are in Indiana and California than nonwing sprints might be the top clasS and a fan favorite. Pensilvania is all about the wing sprints. But if you are in pretty much the rest of the country late models and mods are the fan's favorite class.

I bet a lot of race fans in Iowa wouldn't walk 3 feet to watch a sprint race the paid $25000. Big country and sprints are king everywhere. That's why they are running a big mod race. Cause that's their main class.

Shu, I have a UMP street stock that you can drive, as long as you promise to not tear it up.

Danny, Dont think they are running hornets at Pville yet. I like all types of racing but FWD cars just dont do too much for me.

I was at this race last year. Some of the best racing I've ever seen from any class. 4 wide racing. Very impressive!

As I drove around the property I saw a lot of people wearing modified drivers shirts(something you don't see in Indiana much). It reminded me of the following WoO and USAC receives.

Deer Creek Speedway knows how to put together an "EVENT"! If you're a real race fan I highly recommend attending this event at least once.

Last but not least... Fans that are always whining about modifieds need to drink a glass of stfu.

It seems things in Indiana just go this way as in a lot of other parts of the country guys run for more money on a regular basis. Back east the DIRT modifiers run at their weekly track for an average of $2,000-$2,500 to win and two weeks ago the winner at Lebanon Valley for the regular show got $5,000. Lebanon also has the highest point fund that I can find for a Saturday night track...$100,000. How does he do it? The Outlaws were there last weekend and the 50/50 paid over $7,600 and weekly their 50/50 pays at least $2,000. I believe that Williams Grove paid nearly $5,000 to win a weekly show last night and tonight at New Egypt the heat races pay $500.00 to win and the feature for the modifieds will pay $1,000 to start and $20,000 to win I believe. Not causing trouble just pointing out that the wingless cars are just conditioned to run for less money and they will until someone raises the bar and every other track will have to follow suit. Is the racing in Indiana better than what we have back east...most of the time yes it is. If they paid per slide job you guys would be rich!
