I like the term 1000cc Midgets, Non wing or wing doesnt matter. Dad is right, We are racing midget chassis. We have 2 Foz cars, which are built by Spike and I believe DAD's team has FSC midget chassis built by A.J.Felker.

The only difference is they have been converted to run the 1000cc motorcycle engine with chain.

The non wing thing definitly seems to be the popular thing for most drivers, I like to see the series run both wing and non wing, I think this helps make a versatile driver. Some want to move up to Woo sprint cars and others want to run Non wing USAC sprints.

I love both.

Just my thoughts.

Wish somebody would turn in my transponder and battery that i left on the pit wall 2 weeks ago. I seems that the big problem we have in indiana is that nobody else runs winged race cars. Race promoters around here like the winged cars to spice up their show with something different. Half of the grandstand crowd doesn't know the difference between us and the world of outlaws they just know it's one of them cars with a wing on top. When we take off our wings we become just another mid west open wheel car and the market is saturated with them. Because of this some promoters want a break in their fees, cutting down our purse. What we need to do is prove to the promoters that we are a good deal either way we race. The best way to do this is with numbers. More and more races tracks are running off of a large proportion of the back gate receipts. What some promoter want to see would be 50 lesser class cars with 5 or 6 pit crew per car than 20 or so 1000 cc midgets with 3 pit crew per car. That make sence to me. What we have to do is make up for the numbers by being more attractive for the front gate. A lot of people do not know how fast these cars are when you put on the wing. Maybe qualification in stead of the pill draw might help. On the quarter mile tracks our lap time would be very close to those of the full size sprint cars, on fifth mile tracks they would be faster. That might be why some people like to call them lightning sprints. At Brownstown with a wing we are turning 14.7 and faster lap times. Without the wing Sat. Night we turned a 16.02 lap time during hot laps.

Hopefully they'll still have wing races when I get my car done. If I wanted to run non-wing I would have built a powri midget it's a lot closer to my home!!

I like wings too. They make racing faster, Help keep new drivers under control, and absorb a whole lot of energy in a flip. Racing without them take a much different style and a lot of people like that challenge. Kinda of like going from asphalt to dirt. The first race without the wing is a big challenge for most drivers but every one seems to adapt pretty quickly.

I don't know of any class of racing other than the sidewinders and 1000 cc midgets that race both ways.
