It will do very little for either power or fuel economy just a little less heat available than methanol per gallon . It will raise the price of our cornflakes. They Make methanol from coal, ethanol is made from corn or crops. If they buy up all the corn stuff made from corn goes up. Probably even Beer and wiskey.

When IndyCar went to ethanol they increased the size of the engines,(3 liters to 3.5 liters)so as not to lose speed and performance.
Are Silver Crown cars going to have larger engines or will they be slower because of the fuel change?

8 to 10 USAC Silver Crown races will cause the price of my corn flakes go up? Don't think so.

Was 21 Brands Distillers later known as Ezra Brooks Distillery? Charlie Masters of Waddy, Ky drove USAC sprint car #21 sponsored by Ezra Brooks back in the day. I saw Charlie drive the restored car at Salem in August during the vintage car presentation.

If this is such a GREAT IDEA, why just the Silver Crown cars & not the Sprints & Midgets, too?

Yep, Charlie was one of his drivers. E.T.'s son raced a 1/4 midget on the same stuff. Think Steve Perkins of Frankfort restored it. Steve is a retired micro midget driver from the early 60's.

Amen to that.

Just curious, does anyone with experience with Ethanol, know if it's as corrosive as Methanol?

So as to clarify, not ********, truly just a curious question.

I know this, the people in the know, remind you, that to use it in your daily driver, there are a lot of things to replace in the fuel system, because of the action it has on parts and pieces, that gasoline don't bother. You can find the answers on Google, converting to ethanol, I think is what I used. Bob!

Ethanol is not a good solution to our energy needs, most all of the crop growing land is already being used to feed us and our cattle, ect. I dont know squat about silver crown cars and yes 10 races of them wont starve out a family. Green is great but I believe I've read enuff about ethanol and it's production to know it aint the way to go for the masses. If anything make it legal but not mandated. Its a marketing deal and nothing else. And speaking of the gripe fest comment, what the hell is a forum for if not to voice opinions.

You already use ethanol in your daily driver.

Most pump gasolines are cut with ten to fifteen percent ethanol.

The materials problems don't start until the percentage goes up ( don't remember off the top of my head at what point the materials problems do start ), which is why you can't run E85 in a car that doesn't have a fuel system designed for that mix.
