Like confronting a guy and getting shot? That kind of visionary?

This could get interesting if it is true.

I would agree with some that TG isn't really a visionary. RB has done more in 1 year than he did in 10. That's not an opinion, facts are facts.

I really hope IMS doesn't fall into the wrong hands if it is sold. I don't agree with some of the things done over the years (I think Tony Hulman would agree and many things would not have taken place under his watch). With that said, I really hope it stays in the Hulman family. I really think some bad could come depending on who calls the shots under new ownership.

Yes I was referring to his grandfather. I'm sorry my faux pas made your little smiley face beat his head against the wall. I'm just one of many people who appreciates what his family has done for Indianapolis for decades and wanted to say something hopeful about his potential return. Mia culpa. I shouldn't have said anything. It's funny because I'm the first to admit that I have a lot to learn about racing. I don't remember people in the racing community being so disgruntled about enthusiasts returning to the sport. Right now, I'm reminded why I left in the first place though.

Don't let them run you off. You are entitled to your opinion just like everyone else. The message board "elite" on here see everything through USAC colored glasses. Right now they are worshipping Bernard because he helped Bryan Clausen get a part time Indy Lights ride. FWIW, I like Tony George too. All I've see this Bernard clown do is try to copy some NASCAR rules and almost run off Firestone.

Russ,

I certainly wasn't trying to run anyone off. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my opinion, Tony George isn't a visionary. He was in charge of the IMS and the IRL during a very trying time and he was able to keep the ship afloat. I am also glad that his families accomplishments and traditions at the speedway are recognized throughout the world. All of the improvements have been done without tax payers money. For that I am extremely thankful.

I also don't consider myself one of the message board "elite" as you put it. No better, no worse than anyone else on here. I also don't see everything through USAC colored glasses. I am glad that Bryan Clausen got the ride in Indy Lights but I still think that USAC could do a much better job promoting their own races and drivers. I still haven't seen much out of the Kevin Miller regime that was touted when he was hired.

As far as Randy Bernard is concerned, he has a difficult task of promoting a niche sport that for the past couple of decades was at war with each other. I believe if given time he will get this turned around and we will see an improved product on a higher TV stage.

I hope that IMS stays in the Hulman-George family and this rumor is false. Indianapolis is a better place with this group in charge. Who knows what a change in ownership would bring?

Under RB: Brand new cars coming (those were "coming soon" for 5 years). 3 new engine manufactures. New areo kits (might not be until '13). Not sure where you get your math, but I'd hardly say that is nothing. BTW - Firestone was leaving before he came on board. He and the owners saved the deal.

For me, it has nothing to do with Clausen being in an Indy Lights seat. It's about SOMEBODY getting the chance they deserve to run the Speedway like the old days (hopefully some success will mean several guys getting a shot). They belong just like Wheldon has proven he belongs (he didn't bring bags and bags of money to get started). RB saw that disconnect and is trying to fix it. If that makes me "elite", then fine. RB is a big reason the series is headed in the right direction. TG had his time to run it and it didn't work, facts are facts. Time to move on with a new leader who I think is doing a good job, still a lot of work to do though.

To me it is all about the product and areo downforce is not my cup of tea. If I want a wing race I would go to Vegas and watch the airplanes race around pylons. Good luck to the folks trying to make this joint fly for I know they have lots of fans.
