They could have put a sheeps foot on it by at least 10:00 P.M. I don't think that was to much to ask for, but why use the tracks precious resources when they can use the sprint cars fuel for free.

Why even defend this place?

Heck when Earl was around we just raced, because he knew how to read a radar and prep a track for the coming conditions.

Heres one of the few names to listen to when you ask what should have been done! from a fan stand point the track looked ok/decent BEFORE they let the "stockers" out there.. Modifieds could have done it.. but you could watch every car out there was diggin ruts.. In all honesty i dont think they should run on the program with sprints, they junk the track.. Then these Sprint guys go haulin the mail down into 1 and half of the field either bikes it, or full on jump the cushion.. Sprints are, and were the main show, LET THEM WORK the track.. Helluva alot cheaper to junk a stock car than it is a Sprint.. now ask yourself.. Would you want to just go sailing into 1 with no idea of what lies ahead? If so, that explains why you dont drive these cars..

Really don't know any thing about track prep, sheeps foot, wheel packing, ect.. all I know for sure is once the program began the sprint cars where in no hurry at any time. There where countless delays waiting for cars to push, then delays once the push-off process began waiting on select cars to make their way to the chute. Seems that Eldora could speed that process up a little!!!! IMO if the sprinters would have been ready on time there was ample time to complete the races?

Ever heard of a rain date? What was it, sunny low 80's Sunday? If that were a WOO or the World 100 cab show they most likely would have had one in place.

Ive only been to a few daytime sprint shows , but they all ended the same way,Track surface gets like cement from the sun on it, tires burn off cars in a few laps, and it turns into bigger mess. might have worked in days of supper hard tires and low horsepower but i dont see it working today.

The only day sprintcar race should be on pavement.

I was talking about a Sunday NIGHT race. Didn't insert the word 'night'. I wonder if spell check police will be next?

Possibly, we'll never know. If Sunday scheduled races cannot bring fans out, then someone should notify the Kokomo Speedway ASAP and tell them they are doing it wrong. They have a USAC sprint show on for this SUNDAY Apr. 17.. Of the 19 events on their schedule, 16 of them are Sun. dates. Might tell Tommy Helfrich of Haubstadt Speedway as well because 40% of his shows are on Sundays also. These 2 tracks have been doing this for years. Not only have they survived, but have some of the most loyal sprint car fans in the Midwest.

Besides, the 'taking a beating on the gate' was already anticipated. According to the posts supposedly authored by Tony Stewart on this website... stated "gonna lose a ton of money tonight". And yet another post said "we lose money on it every year". Tony has as much business savvy as he does talent behind the wheel, and that's a BUNCH. I'm sure that whatever happened that weekend in no way would financially cripple him no matter which way it went. He's too sharp for that. I don't know the ******** involved, who actually makes the call to cancel? Management, USAC?? Mutual agreement? This is a question not a statement.

Doesn't matter, sadly it didn't materialize. With enough moisture, heavy cushion, high banks and blazing speed.... It's the most breathtaking track in the country to watch a non-wing sprint car. Hopefully they can get that back.
