I did go to shaheens last nite & will be at macon unless we get this 60 % chance of rain then its down to Lps.
howevr there is a slight chance of am showers in morning here but lasalle is 2 hours north & west. I totally agree that lasalle is a gr8 place for open wheel. I too was disappointed by the lack of crowd there at illinois sprint week. this track is just off of I-39 & close to I-80. giving easy access to the teams & fans alike. I am glad to see some fall saturday & sunday (early start) racing. it reminds me of the past when usac & especially terre haute would have this type of daylight event. fond memories of what will always be the HUT 100 to me at terre haute. We had an awesome fan and car turn out. 32 Sprints, 42 mods, 22 hornets, and a packed grandstand. Weather was awesome. Track was awesome. One thing we didn't account for did happen.
Joey Moughan was leading his heat and bounced off the cushion in turn 3 and went thru the fence catching on fire upside down. He was able to get out and ok. But due to the fence being destroyed the safety team and IRA deemed the track unsafe to race and canceled the show. ![]() |
