USAC SILVER CROWN RACE AT THE ILLINOIS STATE FAIRGROUNDS POSTPONED
- TRACK ENTERPRISES, USAC AND ILLINOIS STATE FAIR TO RESEARCH RESCHEDULE DATE -

Macon, IL – Track Enterprises, Officials for USAC and the Illinois State Fairgrounds have announced the postponement of the USAC Silver Crown race due to weather. A reschedule date has not been announced at this time.

“Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate,” stated Bob Sargent of Track Enterprises. “We will examine all possible avenues for a date that is a win-win situation for everyone that is involved.” A huge field of cars is expected for tomorrow’s ARCA Remax Car Series race in conjunction with the Sportsman feature. Pit Gates will open at 6 am with grandstands opening at 8:30. Features are set to begin at 1PM Plenty of good seats are still available.

Once a conclusion has been reached regarding the rescheduling of the USAC Silver Crown race it will be posted at www.trackenterprises.com and www.usacracing.com.

This press release reads very much like last year's for DuQuoin and that race was NOT rescheduled. Hope it's not the case with Springfield 2010

Hopefully, quite a few of them. The forecast is hot and mostly sunny, with a chance of a $10,000 payday here in KC.

This may be a novel idea, but what on earth ever happend to booking a rain date at the same time you originally schedule a race? Then if you lose a race due to weather you know when you will be going back. It was usually the next day. With the Silver Crown Series only racing 11 or 12 times a year book a rain date at the same time you schedule there races, there should be no reason for them to lose a race date.

hahahaha That's way too simple and makes way too much sense! They used to book a rain date years ago for this race. It was on Monday, preceded by the tin top race which was on Sunday. I attended a few of those rain dates.

I got there at 10:45, and went straight to the track

Much to my surprise, there was a concert stage set up across from the main grandstand. The track looked very workable (and no, I have never worked a track but seen ton's of wet ones) this one would have been dynamite with very little time/gas/etc.

and people wonder why the gate always sucks. This Holy'er than Thou attitude worked really well for Indy Car racing, and the few thousand who bother to show up for USAC events are starting to look into boats and fishing tackle.....

Thanks for wasting my Saturday, not to mention the expense of the trip

I think with the fair going on it would be dificult to find time that works for everyone involved. I am sure scheduling would be a nightmare. Nice thought, but in this case I think not practical.

Why were you surprised to see a concert stage set up ? They have been doing that for at least the last 25 years. That is why they have always got to be done early.

Also what would do you consider very little time/gas/etc. A mile track takes alot of work even without rain. I know you are disappointed, but things happen it rained.
