As for what to charge for Pay-Per-View.
I think a target total $ gross would be what the promoter would charge a title sponsor for the evening. For example $4000 cost to sponsor a local show. Divide that $4000 by the number of projected viewers to get your cost to view. In this case an estimated 500 buyers would be $8 cost to view.(It will take promotion to reach that number ) How many have viewed the free (Unannounced) live shows so far ? I think USAC knows that figure. |

I've been saying this since the live web cast began....USAC could have an initiation fee for USAC Live....pick a number 50 bucks...That's USAC's money....then on race night, the Promoter and USAC go 80-20 or 70-30, with the Promoter getting the majority of the race night money. I think the Promoter should charge general admission price's for the web cast....How else can you watch USAC's best go wheel to wheel from the comfort of your own couch...20 bucks isn't to much to ask.....I'M IN....

I would say like a 19.99 start up fee to get a user name and password.....that money would go to USAC.....then per event that you would like to watch..somewhere around 2.99 to 4.99 that would go to the Race Track....
Just throwing out an idea... |

I am against the free broadcasting of any short track racing be it on TV or Webcast. For many years short track racing has been sold a questionable idea that such things will put more people in the seats. Whether it be ABC's early days with the Hulman Classic, the Knoxville Nationals or Thursday Night Thunder; in the long run they generated very little new interest or new fan loyalty. Since this thread is specific to USAC I would respectfully make this suggestion. Many years ago Steve Sabol started a 30 minute TV highlight show called This Week in the NFL which in reality probably generated more new fan interest than the then televised Sunday games. Such a show with a compilation of exciting highlights from the three USAC divisions vying for the new National championship, participant profiles, track overviews, etc. would do much more to attract new fans. The webcasts, in particular, focus on an already established fan base.
