well to my understanding down bars were for "safety" when first applied.. I could see how a non downbar car would be easier to hook up being less stiff.. but they sure do look like dog turds

I guess I'm in the minority here but I don't care for those ugly downtubes, they ruin the lines of the car. My favorite all time TQ was Jerry Frickman's #46 built by Bob Lowe, I think it was the LAST Lowe car, THAT was a beautiful car. As far as TQs go the Goff cars are pretty tough to beat right now and the previous Beast wasn't/isn't all that sucessful all tho a couple people have went well in one, including Ronnie Combs who won a UMRA championship in one. Guess I'm old school, I want all the midgets/TQs to look like Grant King cars.....lol

Even though he only drove it a few times, Tate Martz's Beast was a rocket, too. Also, didn't Jason Setser drive a Beast when he came into the TQ ranks? If so, he was very sucessful...

I remember when the first "downtube" cars hit tracks years ago. I thought the world had ended. I hated the look. Karl Kinser had ruined sprint car racing as we knew it. Of course as the trend continued it got much easier to accept. Now today I agree the non downtube cars look "odd". And the torsion front end was always "standard" way back when doing away with the traditional spring front ends and I still think it's simple and much easier to tune in but in recent years the trend was for the coil overs.

I also remember back in the 70's the first "coil over" sprint car I ever saw. It was a odd looking thing but said to be a much lighter deal. And then it was find tuned and that was the trend mostly on the midgets more than sprint cars.

It's just whatever works for you. And trends change like hair dos and clothing styles. The mid tube cars are hot right now. But I don't care much for the East body work.

Heard it was ready for a motor, have no idea what they'll put in it. Bob:2:
