"From A Few Years Back" - USAC Sprints 'Twin 50' lap features - 16 July 1967

Speaking of Don Branson, my father, uncle and myself were at the old Sacramento Fairgrounds for the USAC race and I remember hearing (p.a. annoucer) that Branson had been killed at Ascot - either the night or week before that race - can't remember. It made quite an impression on me as I was just out of high school that year. For some reason I can't seem to shake my dark thoughts that particular day - all those many years ago. I wasn't a real fan yet, and relatively new to auto racing. They were truly brave men.
