My thoughts on the sprint car count is as follows -

1) Cold crappy weather with not the best forcast. Can't say anyone has fun spending two days sitting in that weather.
2) Face it, many guys are done racing. They have spent their wad for the season and already got the cars apart getting ready for swap meets.
3) Top teams, getting ready to head out west for two weeks of racing.
4) Two days of pit pass (dollar wise) for one pay out. Plus have to buy a hotel room, food, etc on top of that. Yes, paid 5k to win but only one driver walks out with that. $300 to start is nice but after the costs listed that $300 does not go far.
5) The weather forced teams to either sit two days at L-burg or one day at Kokomo. Seems to me most picked Kokomo.
I'd agree with all that, except had the weather not forced the whole thing into a two day program, the sprint teams would have had to spend THREE days at L'burg, or go home and come back Saturday. so maybe the die was cast before the weather change. Could the revised L'burg schedule had the whole sprint car program on Saturday, allowing the sprint teams so inclined to either go home or go to Kokomo on Sunday? Maybe the DTWC didn't really need the sprint car program, or was there some concern that the LMs couldn't support necessary attendance? I know this thread is about cars..not fans, but with the original schedule, I planned to go to L'burg for the Thursday and Saturday programs and make the trip to Kokomo on Friday. Then came the discussion over one day tickets then the weather problems and I decided to forgo the whole L'burg deal and go to Kokomo. I'm glad I did!!!

The main grandstand about emptied out after the LM feature, just before the sprints. The sprints were added as a bonus to the fans, that's all. No more cost to get in, it is what it is.

Just my opinion, but I believe that Dave Rudisell is cutting a fat cow. He is a business man and he would not promote The 'Burg if there was not more than a buck or two in the job. Also, why when the lease comes up for bid is there several bidders wanting to run the track?

I think track promoters are kind of like farmers. They all say they are broke, but have a wad of money in their overalls and their land is not up for sale.

If race track pomoting was a big money losing project, why would there be so many race tracks?

I do think that some of the greedy promoters have hurt their self by their own self greed and are not as profitable as they could be.

I don't know Don. I would say if you took all of the hours Dave has put into this operation and made it out to an hourly wage it may not be so impressive as you say. Especially if you look over the last couple weeks with the long hours for Funfest and the DTWC. Maybe the bikers are padding his pockets to keep negative people like you away from the track.JK but in all seriousness I don't see how it could be as glorifying and fruitful as some may think. I am sure Dave is making money but he is not getting rich. If it were easy everyone would be doing it.

WOW DON, This is Daves THIRD year promoting. Consider he broke even year one. Missed about five races last spring due to construction.

Purchased tons of new equiptment. The green water truck was 30g and he purchased another bigger one this year plus sheeps foot. Might have even bought Mel's Tractor, IDK. Has ten time the lighting and electric than the old track. He runs about 15 more employees than the old track took and charges a meer three dollars more.
Oh yeah he upped the purse to highest paying in state for a weekly.

I know there down there at least four or five days a week when other promotors put two or three into it.
I HOPE HE MAKES A BILLION! Nobodys gonna do it any better IMHO.
Chuck

The more you post on here about these types of things, the more I tend to believe you are a direct descendant of old man Potter, you know that warped decrepit old man from the movie "Its A Wonderful Life".

Once again you are wrong! Have a nice day!

Stop going to the races and quit eating. That'll show 'em!
How ironic that you use a picture from Manzy as your avatar. I guess the promoter got tired of counting all of his easy money. Apparently that land WAS "up for sale".
