I know what you are talking about and understand where you are coming from but think back to last summer.. very little rain fall with high temps and wind... if you could find any track around here that could hold moisture they were doing something amazing.. you speak of Bloomington maybe the track wasnt real dusty but the one time i went there in late June the track was gone before hot laps was over.. the dust doesnt blow into the crowd there because in the summer the wind usually comes out of the soutwest or west.. atleast I think it does normally...

they need to wet the track and then tear it up and then wet it again

I will just add that Tri-State is by far the best track conditions that goes on year by year.I have no idea what the other poster or hoser is talking about taking to long they can redo the place in about twenty minutes and always start on time and do the same thing at intermission pretty much like clockwork.You should live over here in IL they only now one thing black slick dusty no passing chitholes, I have no problem driving to Haubstadt because I know what it will be like before I ever leave here and they have yet to disappointment me.

I could not agree more. I go there often, but I also get tired of watching the tractors. The last time I was there I timed them just to see how long the tractors were actually on the track.

There were 210 minutes from the time the first car rolled onto the track for hot laps and the time they called the cars out for the feature. Of that 210 minutes, 75 minutes was spent watching the John Deere parade. Thats over 35% of the time spent watching track prep instead of racing!!! IMO that is too much time spent for the results obtained. By the way, I always check the wind direction on the NOAA website before leaving home to decide which side to sit on.

That twenty minutes took well over a hour the only visit I've made to Haubstadt, IMHO the track was in great shape when they started their farm machinery show.

Still, It was great racing, The only reason I was a little upset at the 130am finish is I had to be somewhere at 7am EASTERN Time which gave me roughly 3hrs sleep.

Jones can provide any track owner all of that organic material they want.

Actually I am glad Tommy stopped using it so much. You had to shower before leaving the track it was so strong smelling.

I harken back to DD's comment at Haubtadt this year. When asked about the track conditions, he replied "Needs more wood."
Pretty soon the place will start looking like the Nutley Velodrome.

Thought I had heard that he was adding Coke syrup in there as well.

The $500 per 55 gallon barrel of the stuff WBR referenced would likely turn the majority track owners away.

I was towing a school teacher past a hog operation one day and they were spraying liquid manure on the corn field. If you have ever winessed this you know about the breath taking odor we experienced. She asked "What is that horrible odor? and Why are they spraying it on the corn?"
I told her it was pig poop and they were using it to fertilize the corn. She reacted like the smell had disappeared and replied: "I prefer my food to have organic fertilizer used on it!" :kookoo2:

We used 10 gallon of tracktac on 1/4 mile gray clay and dirt and it lasted for nearly 3 races. I have no stake in the company, it worked well, so I am letting the track promoters that read here know about it.

Keith Hall would use hay in his prep! At least the start of the season. Along with the weeds. Out west here they use something like that for dry areas for planting. I think it breaks down in thirty days and feeds the plant after the water is used up.:applaud:
