Or maybe Knoxville pulled the plug after they heard Speed TV's costs for the Sunday night telecast...I'm guessing that the production costs, including personnel, satellite uplink, additional per diem expenses. could quickly add up to $50-$100K.....live TV ain't cheap...

As usual, people are quick to throw blame without actually knowing any facts...

What does the fact that these cars have a wing on top have to do with TV coverage???

I am sure it involved the cost of putting the race on TV again for a second night as folks have mentioned above. But heck, I'm sure everything would have worked out just fine if they had run without wings!

From what I've read, Knoxville was paying Speed to be there. The last time this happened, Knoxville chose not to pay the extra to continue the broadcast the next day.

I doubt a Speed broadcast comes cheap and I think it's great that they offer the live broadcast. I can accept the fact that they want to cut their losses.

It wouldn't have rained if they didn't have umbrellas on top!

The word that I got this afternoon from a person "moderately in the know" was the cost would be $50k for Speed to hang around for tonight. I can't confirm that, but that was the number Dave Argabright and Brad Doty were talking about at the member's forum Thursday for a one night show. As we all know the days of TV paying to telecast a race like they did with "Thursday Night Thunder" and The Hulman Classic are long gone. Like it or not, today you buy the time and do all of the leg work to sell the sponsorship.

I got an e-mail from SPEED yesterday that stated the remainder of the race would be aired on Friday at 7 p.m. It kind of stinks since we already know who won, but the winner wasn't really much of a surprise anyway.

If that's true, it makes sense to not broadcast Sunday- no advance ads, so the TV audience would be lower, too low to

make any $$$$$$
