It seems they would devised something better for this type of racing. I supposed some of the seats made today try or do accomplish side to side with forces on the neck but I know of some incidents with head injuries from the head swapping back and forth against the side head containment bars. I supposed it is a compromise one way or another. Head or neck.

Maybe someone should devise something like the Hans and Leatt neck brace.

The Leatt does guard against the head going in all directions. Maybe not perfect but better than nothing. I had a Leatt on when I had my accident. I did land on my head after break 2 ankles and 5 ribs. So, who knows if it helped my neck or not. I couldn't remember much after the intial impact and flying through the air.

Maybe the 2 companies could do a collaboration project.
Dave Leatt has a brace called the Moto/R. that is what you ask for. It protects the neck from compression while it theaters the helmet for extension. In my opinion this is the best device on the market for our type of racing.

Yep, that is exactly what I was talking about. I didn't know anyone had something like that yet.

That and the newer seats is definately about as good as you can do right now.

I am all for the hans. I think the manufacturer and the series should investigate whether it may increase the chances of injury in side impact such as flipping on dirt. Another area that should be scrutinized is USAC developing a policy for returning if you lose consciousness as a result of an accident. You don't want to damage a participants' future health by allowing them to put themselves at risk if their brain hasn't had a chance to heal itself. The IRL policy is that you have to sit out 7 days if you"take a nap".

The emergency response time at the track is another serious issue I will address separately.
