I seen some of the best racing I've ever seen at that track. Not sure what a inside wall will help (Except safety of the staff) but the track can be exciting.

Chuck, just another reason to do the whole midget week thing for me!

I like the idea of adding Union County to the mix, aside from it being somewhat close to home. It can be a good track, if prepared well. We shall see if they can do that...

One of the best races I've seen there was won by Robbie Stanley, in an orange #44. Oh yeah, it was a winged race, I think All-Stars. He rode the fence all the way around that place...

Shawn, I mentioned that in another thread about *MAKING YOUR OWN GROVE* I remember the winged shows back in the late 80s along with a CRA race or two but Robbie and Mike bowling would go up top and jump the cushion and make their own grove while many would just run the bottom under it.

WIth some tack it can be sweet, All the improvements last time I was there two or three years ago were certainly starting to take shape.

Chuck, who realizes Fish and a few others seen a not so pleasant show but it could be good if run and prepped right.

If I can return to Brownstown, and I will, even after the debacle that was the CRA tour race there won by Joe Roush several years ago, I can and will return to Union County despite the above mentioned past issues. Besides, I witnessed a terrific midget race there (late 60's? early 70's?) won by the flying stone dodging Merle Bettenahusen.

Can't wait for "O" "8".

I'm going to do my best to get there this year. Andrew Quinn tried to get me out there this year, but I didn't do it. After listening to him describe what I missed, I won't make that mistake again.

It was so long ago when I was there, it was still called Whitewater Valley Speedway. All I can remember about it is USAC midgets rained out saturday nite. Resched for sunday. Overwatered the track and they didn't start hot laps until 9PM sunday (had to work monday). My memory is very foggy about the race, except I recall Jeff Swindell driving the #46 Gamester midget.

It was a 3/8 with long straights and with tight high banked turns. Is it still like that?

Maybe Bob Jenkins will be there. I think Liberty is his hometown IIRC.

Seadog, your description of the track is accurate.

In the early eighties, I believe that Duke Cook was the promoter at Whitewater.

Good observation about Bob Jenkins...I did read that he is originally from Liberty.

I'm glad to see that Tony B got on here right away to start letting fans in on his plans. That was the main reason for me mentioning this coming change as soon as I found out about it. I knew some would not be real happy. We all have to remember, Tony is a very good promoter and I really think this will be one of the best open wheel shows ever, or in quite some time, held at Union County Speedway. He definately is not afraid to do what it takes to put on a good show and promote it and he and Larry Boos do work good together. We wish you the best Tony and I hope you get a lot of support on this. :thumb:
