I would love to do some non-wing races. We did a few with the old Allstar Midget group and they were always a lot of fun. There was a discussion last year of a possible mini series without the wings. Didn't seem to get any traction. Agree that the smaller tracks would be the best place. Osgood is this weekend - would be a great chance to try it out.

I have been working on a few options, The problem I am having is most want a big purse and the tracks don't want to stick their necks out and have a low car count. I understand every one wants to race for as much as they can, but we need to walk before we can run. Look me up at any AMSA race and we can talk about this more.

I thought about running a TQ, but the engines to me are behind the times. A good TQ engine alone cost more than I have in my whole car. You can get a low mile 1000cc engine all day long for $1000 to $2000. I paid less than that for my engine and it's a 2007 and had only 2000 miles on it. I got it on e-bay and parts are everywhere (headers, air boxes, wire harness, ect). I get to the track, flip the switch, and my engine adjusts to the conds. Truley plug-n-play. I don't understand why going through all the trouble to have the transmision cut off the engine, and then run hilborn injection. I think if the TQ's were like the Kenyon Midgets where you keep the trans and keep them stock 1000cc, there would be 60 car count TQ races again. TQ's have a long history and have been around a long time and that helps them, but mini-sprints can use more common midget parts and that is a huge plus. I liked the TQ pay back also. It's only $400 to win, but it is $100 to start and climbs from 18th on up. If it wasn't for the engines I probley would have bought a TQ.
I agree with wings at the Burg, that place is fast! As far as the purse goes the new TQ series has it right to me. The winner of the race doesn't keep a series going, it's the cars that can show up every race that carry a series. $100 to start and in the future $40 for non-qualifiers, is enough to keep one of these cars going. I can pay for my pitpass, entry fee, and a little gas in the truck and a couple cheseburgers for a $100. I would be cool with $40 to start and $200 to win to get started. We have a free weekend Sept 25th - 27th where both series are off, mabey try to put something together? |

Cincy, you don't have to run one of those 836 Honda's, I've been running a Yamaha 600r, since 05, it now has over 60 nights if racing on it, and is very competitive, I built it as a dummy, out of parts from different engines off Ebay, really never intended to run it, all it's had is a new set of plugs in that time, so don't let the engine thing run you off, this season we have at least 1 Kaw, 600, a Suzuki 600, and my Yamaha 600r, not the R6, which is still in the car, from 05. It is new technology, at a fraction of the cost, you still have to cut and plate the engine to run the QC, but you don't need aftermarket anything, just bolt it in, and go. If you feel the need, you can go to 700cc, but with most of these engines, enough parts will interchange, you still don't have a bunch in them, and it's all stock parts. Rod bolts for mine are $2.50 ea, as compared to $300.00 a set for aftermarket pcs. Bob

I wouldnt mind doing some non-wing again, we went to Chandler last year with the MMSA it was alot of fun, the car count was not great but a long drive could have been a big part of that. I doubt you ever see them at salem we tried that there once in 600's and it ended up in a pretty bad crash for a guy who ended up in the hospital, I think it kinda spooked Mason. L-burg is too big as slide22 stated, but it will eat motors wing or nonwing, tracks that size never let the car breath, we may see some of that at brownstown. Anyways if Bill or Jerry decide to put something together let me know!!!

Needs to be on an off week not during the points season. AMSA has June 13 to July 10 off, and MMSA has off June 6 thro the 19. We should approach moler he’s a supporter of the cars we just need to make sure we can get cars to show.
