I don't keep track of how many nights, but I know it was over 60.
States WI, NE, IA. IN. IL OK MO.
New tracks. Rockford IL. Southern IL center. Kokomo IN. Eagle NE.
My 2 favorite races of the year every year are The Chili Bowl and IMCA Super Nationals.
Best race I saw this year is a tie. Kokomo Klash Sunshine beating the Peoples champ at the line
And Clash at the Creek 141 Speedway. Kyle Stirkler beating Benji Lacrosse by .005 at the line.
Another highlight was attending my first Sliver Crown race at Terre Haute.
Next year going to knock a couple off my bucket list. Little 500 and Indy Mile Silver Crown.
First race will be Chill Chaser endro 141 speedway, then off to Tulsa for the Chili Bowl.

I'll chalk up 27 for 2017. I could CLAIM 28 but one was opening night at the new Hartford Speedway wherein there was no sprint action.

Three rainouts are not counted either.

New venues: Baer Field Dirt Track for SOD, Lincoln Park for ISW, and Route 66 Dirt Track for the IRA event in mid-September.

Low point of the year.... went down to Volusia for the DirtCar Nationals and never ran into Eric Smith.

High points of the year:

Always meeting fish.

Watched a couple of races with flagboy55 at Kokomo and Joliet. His bud Kenny was a top shelf conversationalist and dirt car fan from start to finish. Sitting next to him was like being inducted into dirt track fans hall of fame. Sitting with flagboy55 and watching the action was realizing everything was all right with racing and the world. That's why you came to the track.

Grilling out at Hartford for the June SOD race and subsequently watching Chad Blonde totally dismantle a 26 car field. Trust me.... the grilling pre-race was what it was all about. The race was a statement from CB.

And..... caught the ISW race at Lincoln Park coming back from the King's Royal weekend after the earlier ISW rainout. Met Mrs. G and that made it the best day of the 365 days offered.

I don't know about YOU....but I plan to make 2018 a full contact sport with respect to watching the sprinters!

See you at Volusia in a few weeks. I'm easy to find. I'll be wearing a purple hat.

Thanks for starting this thread, davidm. Discussing and reliving our travels is what racing is all about for us fans.

See you all next year on the other side of the checkers.

Best races I seen. LBurg Midget Week with Holy Shelton and Bayston swapping two sliders and crossovers per lap. Then Rico and shelton. Bet there were 35 lead passes in 30 laps. Rico Won..

Bloomington first USAC race. Boespflug leading, Windom creepin the bottom, Windom takes lead about lap 20. Im thinking it's over. Boespflug winds it up and the last ten laps are side by side. Boespflug wins.

Hewitt Classic, Darland commanding lead. Gets bogged with lappers but I think he thinks he's safe. Drew Rader winds it up on the cushion, passes cars like crazy and wins by half a car.

Monpelier BOSS. TMEZ kinda made it look easy but the show all around was excellent.

Most interesting? My first Little 500, I don't like Pavement much. But I liked this race, WOW.

Had a great year, Me and My Uncle made almost all of LBurg Races except for WoO, Hit THAT, PVILLE, Bloomington twice, Montpellier, Waynesfield twice, Mansfield, Atomic, Brownstown twice, Eldora twice. Made Florence's first Lucas race and Moler's Turkey Gobbler with SHortbus and Lloyd.

New tracks for me were Mansfield and Anderson.

Here's wishing everyone a safe, healthy and lots of racing 2018
Holly Shelton was great at Susquehanna too, didn't win but she sure made it exciting. I'd love to see her start winning...
"My first Little 500, I don't like Pavement much. But I liked this race, WOW." .... haven't been there yet, my exact feelings about pavement, but BrentTFunk keeps telling me i should go. Maybe I should listen....

Only went to the major shows at Lawrenceburg. Including Sprintweek, Midgetweek and WOO. I have to agree the midget show with Holly Shelton was phenomenal. Probably the best show at the track all year with WOO being a very close second.

One of my Burg Favorites this year was the King of the Midwest with defending champ Stanbrough leading and Dickie Gains ran him down and won.. Was also a amazing run for JJ Hughes in that race.

I was fortunate enough to take in 40+ races across 7 different states with most nights being spent in a tent or the truck bed.
New tracks(Knoxville, Port Royal, Fairbury, East Bay) and new series were part of the enjoyment, but the best part remains running into old friends and new ones around the tailgate.

The season isn't over yet as tonight and tomorrow night I'll be taking in the Rumble, and no tent or truck bed for this weekend.

It’s been an odd year. My daughters senior year of high school and college prep along w/ playing a couple softball fundraisers definitely slowed my racing time. I only made it to 18(?) completed races this year. All 6 locations in indiana, mostly Kokomo, but still got a few firsts in.

First trip to US24 (600’s), First green flag laps and completed race at Terre Haute, & attended my first Haubstadt Hustler as a day trip!

Top Highlight will always be camping the back half of ISW and Smackdown w/ my dad, brother, and friends, old a new alike. Another though would be meeting Robert Ballou and his gf during the offseason at a non race function. I met a totally different guy than i thought i would from behind the microphone.

Best race is K Cummins and KT jr.. I’ll let you decide which time. 2nd would be Smackdown finale. It was like a wrestling Royal Rumble: elbows up 20 deep.

I’m so jealous of those that already travel across multi states. In 2018 i plan to add another first trip to an Indiana track and an out of state’r like Fairbury or maybe an illinois midget week weekend.
Hope to see you there!

"I’m so jealous of those that already travel across multi states." Yea, its fun to explore the good ole USA, but we're jealous of folks who can go the races every weekend without driving for hours & spending $$$ on motels! (I don't camp...)
